Brand Focus: Ethique
In an age where we're trying to reduce our impact on the world, after going through a massive consumerism based wastage and destruction, it's really nice to see that reflected in the products, and particularly, packaging that we're now getting from beauty companies. It's our way of trying to be more accountable, and there is one brand that I can think of that started off being as responsible as they have continued to be, and that is the very aptly named Ethique!
Given that my last brand focus on them was over a year ago, I thought it was high time they were due for another shout out, with us talking about what they're best known for, and what they started out with, and that, of course, would be their shampoo and conditioner bars! For those who may not be familiar with the brand, Ethique is a New Zealand based brand that started off making shampoo and conditioner bars, and over the last 10 years (and then some), they have been expanding their line, and they now have you covered for your toiletry needs, having included things like deodorant, lip balm and scrub bars in their range.
It's been really interesting to watch the evolution of their shampoo and conditioner bars. Starting out with just a limited range, they now have all kinds of bars available to help you tackle your hair concerns. Wanting to tone down the brassiness of your colour? Try the Brightening Purple Shampoo and Conditioner bars. Need a hit of moisture for your hair? Give the Intensive Solid Conditioner Bar a shot! Can't deal with strong fragrances? The Unscented Solid Shampoo and Conditioner bars may be the right fit for you. Whatever your needs, Ethique's got a bar for it!
I tried their shampoo and conditioner range a while back, when the brand was still shiny and new, and I loved the concept, but I didn't think the conditioner suited me as well as I would have liked for it to. I'm happy to report that their Intensely Nourishing Conditioner has been perfect for my bleached and coloured hair - bringing it back to life, without weighing it down. I love that it doesn't leave the hair covered in a residue, and that overall, this does the job with the great side effect of me know that I haven't added to landfill!
These come in plastic free, home compostable, recyclable packaging - a cute little box that houses these rounds and cubes of goodness. The brand is incredibly accessible here in Australia, and can be easily found in major retailers, like Woolworths, and has grown from being a quiet, modest line into what can only be described as a green giant. They are B Corp Certified, cruelty free, PETA certified vegan and palm oil free. You can read more about them here, and while you're there, make sure you check out their lip balms! My current bedside one is the Pepped Up Nourishing Lip Balm, and it has been for a while, it's great value for money! What have you tried from Ethique?
