Review: YSL Pure Shots Night Reboot Serum
I have honestly cut back a lot on my shopping this year, or at least, I've tried to, but occasionally, I do slip up, and that is often reflected here by the purchases that I end up reviewing. I'm a sucker for packaging, as we all know, and also for a luxe brand. This simply means that when there's a luxe brand that trots out something that's sitting in gorgeous packaging, it's just about impossible for me to turn it down, and that's the story of how I bought the YSL Pure Shots Night Reboot Serum.
I also want you to know that this wasn't simply an impulse purchase for me. Rather, it's one I planned after using at least three 7ml deluxe samples of the same thing, and realised that I truly wanted to commit to a full size version. Said to be great for hydrating and exfoliating the skin, this is also meant to help minimise the appearance of pores, while also smoothing the skin.
This contains meadowfoam seed oil, argan oil and Moroccan Moonlight cactus flower extract, as well as an exfoliating glycolic acid, among others, and comes presented as a bi-phase solution in a tall, elegant bottle, with a glossy black pull off cap and their symbol on the front of the bottle and the top of the cap. To use this, shake it up, so that the bi-phase serum can blend together, then pump two shots of this into the palm of your hand.
This serum has quite a light texture and feel to it. It's watery consistency makes it a very easy product for the skin to absorb quickly, to the point where it can't be detected on the skin. I like that this doesn't have an obvious scent to it, and that while it's light, it seems to make a difference to my skin. Said to help target the signs of fatigue, renewing the complexion so that you can look refreshed, I love that this both exfoliates quietly, while also adding hydration to it.
My skin seems to appreciate this serum, and reacts well to it by staying smooth and looking revitalised, come the morning. Overall, while not particularly earth shattering, I like that this has been consistently lovely on my skin, even when I've used this while I've been away and I've been exposed to more dry air (in the plane cabin, of course) and shifts in my skincare routine. As a by the by, this is a good example of a luxe brand aiming to be a little more sustainable, coming in cardboard packaging made from 100% FSC certified paper, and with the actual product being refillable as well. This is available at various retailers, including Adore Beauty, for $135. What was the last product you tried from YSL?
