Review: Winky Lux Cheeky Rose Cream Blush and Highlighter

I am, and always have been, an absolute and total sucker for packaging. I know that they say you're not meant to judge a book by it's cover, but I do - that's part of why I pick certain pieces of makeup, and why I would go for a wine with a cute label. And for people who do know wine, I apologise - I know that critter wines (you know, the ones with cute animals on the label) aren't of the best quality, but eh... At this point in my life, I don't think I have to apologise for liking what I like!

And of course, at the moment, I'm really liking the look of the Winky Lux Cheeky Rose Cream Blush! I know that these aren't new on the market, and they've been kicking around for a while, but I caught a glimpse of them in real life about a year ago when I was in Hawaii, when I encountered them in Target - I was head over heels for them! Sadly, I wasn't given the chance to purchase them then, as they were all sold of them at that point, and I gave up hope of actually getting them into my hot little hands. Until now!

One of the sweetest people I know, and definitely someone who ranks as one of my best friends, recently sent me a parcel, and asked me what I wanted included in the parcel before she packed it all in, and she came through with the Winky Lux Cheeky Rose Cream Blush in Tea Time and the Winky Lux Cheeky Rose Cream Highlighter in Rose! They come in matching packaging - a round globe that has a gold bottom, and a clear lid that shows you just how gorgeous the product is, a perfect rose, nestled gently in this beautiful case.

The blush is available in five different shades, while the highlighter comes in just two colours. These cream products are both infused with carnauba wax and vitamin E, and designed so that they will melt into the skin to give a natural finish, and these are also meant to be buildable, so that you can get them to the shade that you're after, if a light blush isn't what you prefer. I love that the blush does just give the skin a nice natural flush, leaving me with a rosy and healthy colour, and not overdone.

I can also confirm that the formula allows for this to be layered as needed, so that if you're after a bit more colour, that can also be achieved. When it comes to the highlighter, I like that it doesn't look glittery, and that it more adds a bit of sheen to the skin, which, when it catches the light, is just so gorgeous. These are so pretty, and work very well for my needs - in this particular case, I cannot regret judging this particular book by it's cover! What was the last purchase that you made based on how cute the product/packaging looked, and was that a mistake?
