Review: The Ordinary Lacto-PDRN* 4% + B9 Eye Cream

Mondays can be hard, but that doesn't mean that you have to face it alone. You can absolutely face it with an arsenal of skincare that's built to help your handle everything that the day has to send your way! One of the most important parts of my skincare rotation has always been, and will likely always be, my eye cream, because this probably has to do the most heavy lifting! And this time, I've returned with a very affordable eye cream option that actually does what it says, and that's The Ordinary Lacto-PDRN 4% + B9 Eye Cream!

This eye cream is meant to help visibly firm, lift and tighten the under eye area, while also improving skin elasticity. It's also supposed to reduce the appearance of fine line and wrinkles, as well as manage the dehydration around the eye area. To help achieve all of these skin goals, this uses Lacto-PDRC* 4%, which is a microbial-derived vegan alternative to salmon-PDRN, making it a more accessible cream, particularly in a time when people have plenty of options that may cater to others who would prefer an eye cream free from animal products. This is what's responsible for addressing visible signs of ageing, as well as supporting firmer, more elastic-looking skin.

There's also folic acid, which is what helps with targeting signs of ageing and dehydration. This comes in a tube with a slim nozzle and a cap that's easy to unscrew, but feels secure once it's back on. Much like the rest of the range, it's a minimalist black and white, utilitarian type packaging, but it works well with the no nonsense approach that the brand seems to encapsulate. When squeezed, this produces a white, lightweight gel-cream that spreads easily on the skin without seeming too thick.

This doesn't have a particular scent to it, and I love that it doesn't seem to interfere with any other bits of skincare. Instead, this seems easy to tap into the skin, and it doesn't take long for it to be absorbed. What I like most about this is that it just seems to work on me. The skin around my eyes look a little fuller, not puffy, and really just somewhat smoother. It feels rich, without being too thick or cloying, and leaves my skin smooth with fine lines kept to a minimum.

The Lacto-PDRN* 4% + B9 Eye Cream by The Ordinary is certainly very affordable (particularly in this economy!) at $15.10 for 15 ml of product. While that doesn't seem particularly cheap, when you break it down to about $1/ml, given the amount of product that you use each time, it certainly seems worth it! This is available at a number of places, including Adore Beauty, Sephora and Myer, making it a really accessible product. Which The Ordinary product do you find yourself buying on repeat?
