Review: Nars Hot Escape Afterglow Lip Oil

What have you done this week? It's always a good idea to pause and reflect upon all the good things that you can be grateful for. For example, I'm grateful that I got the chance to run off and live a carefree life for the last month. I'm grateful that I was able to do so with my husband, who is one of my biggest supporters and has always been there for me, no matter how messy I've been - both literally and emotionally. I'm also grateful that the plane ride back was a breeze and that I'm able to be back on solid ground with the one person I missed the most - my little cat.

I'm also grateful for all the things I packed, and while I did miss a few products, I recognise that you cannot take everything with you - I mean, what about the shopping? On that note, let's talk about something that I didn't take with me, but it certainly was a strong contender - sadly, the shape of it was just a little bit too big for my daily bag! It's time to close out the week with something bright and beautiful, and for me, that's the Nars Hot Escape Afterglow Lip Oil!

Nars needs no introduction - I've been a long time fan of their products, most notably, the blush in Orgasm, the lip balm in Orgasm, and now, their Hot Escape Afterglow Lip Oil, also in Orgasm. I think it really is one of those shades that's kind of universally appreciated, and flattering on just about everyone. Orgasm is a peachy, pink that seems to translate well across different mediums, and it's actually a little hard to believe that Orgasm in the form of blush has been on the scene now for at least 25 years, and it's still going strong as a cult favourite.

I mean, I think I have had less enduring relationships than that! But that's the thing about holy grail products, I suppose, once you find something that you love, you always come back to it. This lip oil comes in the classic peachy pink shade with little golden sparkles scattered throughout, and these are barely noticeable once you have it slicked onto the lips. This comes in a tall tube with a long wand that bears a very small applicator at the end of it, making it easier to get into the corners of the mouth.

I love that this doesn't have a sticky feel to it, and instead, it's hydrating with a glossy sheen to it. I think of this more as a casual, daily wear lip oil, rather than if you wanted something with a high shine to it. That said, it is still quite glossy, with a hint of colour, and it is easy to wear. The only negative is that this doesn't last long on the lips, but lip oils never tend to! This is also available in a range of other colours, and I think they are a limited edition run, so don't sleep on it! What is the one Nars product you'd buy again and again?
