Review: Fraim Repair Mask with Niacinamide
So, I was in the Maldives recently... I know, it's pretty much the story I'm going to dine out on for the rest of my life! I mean, who just actually WINS a trip the freaking Maldives?!?! But, yes, I digress, I was in the paradise known as the Maldives recently, and as gorgeous as it was, there were a few things that I didn't quite expect to come away with. Namely, a rash created by a series of little things, including broken up pieces of jellyfish in the water, as well as my allergies, resulting in a 10 day series of antibiotics. I also foolishly didn't quite think about what it was going to do to my hair, but it's been an interesting journey.
As you may know, I've been bleaching and dyeing my own hair for the last few years, generally sticking to a range of colours that go between pink, blue, aquamarine and purple. Right before we went away for two weeks, I touched up my hair colour and gave it a pinky purple hue, in an attempt to look cute in my holiday shots. Of course, I hadn't considered, at that point, just how unnecessary it was going to be for my hair, despite knowing how important it was going to be to use my hair mask! All the colour ended up washing out of my hair, after multiple dips in the ocean, and further lightened by the sun.
Of course, with all that drying out of my hair, and exposure to salt water, it also meant that my hair was always going to end up feeling dry and tangled. Thankfully, the one thing that I did have foresight about was packing a tub of hair mask into my luggage.I bought the Fraim Repair Mask with Niacinamide about a month ago, and it has served me well. This is designed to fight the frizz, while also repairing breakage to damaged and dry hair, helping to nourishing it, so that you can be left with softer, yet stronger, and more manageable tresses.
This comes in a large coral red tub with a black screw cap, and makes it easy to store without fear of it tipping out. It contains about 200ml of product, which is quite thick, and it's easy to scoop out the amount that you're after. I find about a small handful to be right for my hair, which, at this point, comes down the middle of my back, and I start a few inches away from my roots. I work it into the strands thoroughly, before leaving it for five to ten minutes. I have a claw clip that I leave in my shower for this purpose, where I can let my hair mask work it's magic, while I'm busy scrubbing and shaving. Multi-tasking while I'm masking, if you will.
I don't feel like this has much of a scent, and I love that it actually does a great job of making my hair feel a little softer and more manageable. I appreciate that this doesn't seem to make my hair look flat, or feel greasy and heavy, and that it actually does seem to make my strands look less frizzy, while still maintaining a bit of body. I wish this would make it smoother and softer than what it ends up being after being rinsed out, but it's still better than if I didn't use it. This retails for $18 at Priceline, and can be found on sale from time to time. What have you tried from Fraim?
