Review: Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto Replenishing Hydrator
We were off to a rocky start with the Summer this year - just as things were starting to heat up, we hit a pocket of wintry chill, which resulted in everyone scrabbling around for their cold weather pieces, so they could rug up again for about a week. Thankfully, however, we're back on track again with sunshine and hot days, which means that I can now tuck my jackets away once more, and use the skincare that is relevant at this time of year.
That also means taking into consideration what the weather does to my skin, and keeping that in mind when we're looking at what to include in my skincare routine. As someone who recently sweated up an absolute storm in a 20 minute walk out in the sun, I can honestly say that heavy creams are out, and lighter, fast absorbing products are in. And of course, if you're in the market for something that keeps your skin moisturised without it feeling sticky or smothered, then you're reading the right blog post!
The Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto Replenishing Hydrator is a step up from it's predecessor, and this oil-free gel-cream moisturiser has a lightweight formula that is meant to help keep the skin hydrated for 100 hours, even after washing your face. It manages to do so with some beautiful ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, which is amazing for retaining moisture, and responsible for holding up to 1000 times it's weight in water. In fact, this formula contains two different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid!
There is also aloe bio-ferment, which is made up of lactobacillus, activated aloe water and organic aloe extract powder. Activated aloe water, which is essentially pure water, infused with aloe barbadensis leaf extract, that's been supercharged to hold both positive and negative ionic charges, resulting in it being absorbed more easily. Additionally, this formula also includes the auo-replenishing technology, which uses activated aloe water and caffeine to trigger the skin's own rehydration system. That sounds amazing, but what makes it even better is that this comes in more sustainable packaging, with their 50 ml and 75 ml jars being recyclable, and the 15 ml jar being made with a minimum of 40% post-consumer recycles material.
