Review: Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye
I've been using eye cream for at least 30 years at this point, and while I see it as a total value add, and I even pack travel sized versions for when I go away, I know a number of people who don't use this regularly, whether it's because they don't find it to be helpful for their skin, or perhaps they don't realise how important it can be. As always, I'm here to dispel you of any crazy notions that you may have regarding eye creams, and talk about what I've been loving from Medik8!
For those who aren't au fait with Medik8, this post is a good place to start, but if you're looking for other Medik8 recommendations, you can use the search bar on this blog to have a look at what I've previously used! The Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye cream contains retinal, as the name would suggest, and this is meant to work 11 times faster than standard retinol, so that it can transform your skin with just one use.
The range is meant to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, while also brightening and smoothing the eye area. It's supposed to give you clinical strength results without irritating the skin, and I love that this is available in three progressive strengths, so that you can customise it to what works best for you. If you're new to retinal, start with Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye 3, then you can work your way up from there to 6, and eventually 10. If you're a regular retinal user, then you can leap into either 6 or 10, whichever you'd be comfortable with.
The formula includes twin-encapsulated retinaldehyde as their key ingredient, of course, and this allows for an ultra slow release, which results in a gradient effect of retinal in the skin, so that it can remain gentle, while still being effective. It also has ceramides, which can mimick the natural lipid barrier, replenishing and nourishing the complexion. This also contains hyaluronic acid filling spheres, which is able to help fill in and smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles, expanding within the depth of the wrinkle to create a plumper look. Last but not least, it also has chamomile extract, which works as an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties, so that it can soothe and calm the skin, keeping it comfortable.
This comes in a silver tube with a screw cap, and a narrow nozzle to squeeze the product through. The cream is relatively light, and easy to tap into the skin. This is fragrance free, and I love that it settles into the skin nicely. I've been using the Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye 3, and that has been really gentle on my skin. My skin does seem to react positively to this - it's been helping me deal with the fine lines around my eyes, making it so that I look more awake and less tired, which is an incredible feat. You can find this at various retailers, including Adore Beauty. D you use retinal regularly?
