Review: Bastide Huile Seche Epatante Dry Oil Mist

It's Thursday, and I'm currently still recovering from a bout of gastro that I had earlier in the week. How do people with kids deal with this on the regular?!?! Needless to say, feeling unwell is never great for the skin, and I've been neglecting my skin for a few days. Thankfully, I never run out of skincare to help my skin feel more comfortable - I mean, I'm more than well equipped for a zombie apocalypse! This means that recovery can be pretty quick, and I've been lathering up my body with one of my latest purchases, the Bastide Huile Seche Epatante Dry Oil Mist.

One of the most dangerous things I do is head to Mecca for a browse, because, let's face it, it's never really a browse! Rather, it's simply an excuse to check out the items that I really want to buy. It's exactly with that intent that I bought the Bastide Huile Seche Epatante Dry Oil Mist. The name really did it for me - I'm a big fan of body oils, as you guys probably know, but when it comes to hot weather, I'm not keen on a very oily oil, because then it feels like I'd slide out of my clothes and stick to furniture. Instead, I tend to gravitate towards dry oils, if possible, and this definitely lives up to the name!

This is marketed as a light, fast-absorbing dry oil that's designed to hydrate and soothe the skin. The formula includes natural Provence oils that are meant to leave the skin lightly fragranced with the scent of orange blooms. Sunflower seed oil and macadamia oil are also included in the formula, and this is rich in linoleic acid and vitamin E. Aside from being deeply hydrating, this is also meant to help form a barrier for the skin.

I love that this comes in a luxe, heavy glass bottle that makes it look more like perfume than a body oil, especially given that this does have a pretty scent to it. What I don't love about it, though, is that the pump doesn't put out very much product with each push, and I find myself having to do multiple pumps every time I reach for this. It does, however, live up to being a mist, as the name would suggest, and it truly has a very light texture, making this an actual dry oil that gets absorbed easily.

It's a great dry oil in that this can be quite hydrating without leaving much of a trace behind, making it the perfect accompaniment to a hot Summer shower, so that you can have smooth, moisturised skin that doesn't feel greasy. This retails for $78 for 100ml of product, and this is available at Mecca. What was the last dry oil that you tried?
