Review: Maybelline Superstay Teddy Tint and The Falsies Surreal Extensions Mascara

At the root of blogging, back when I first started giving my (unsolicited) opinion on makeup and skincare in a public forum, is all about reviews. I decided to return to those makeup review roots this week with a few new purchases from Priceline that I made when they were having an excellent gift with purchase - as you all know, I can resist a good GWP! This time, to qualify for it, I bought a few things, including the Maybelline Superstay Teddy Tint in Baby Tee and The Falsies Surreal Extensions Mascara, and I have to say, spoiler, I definitely backed the right horses with these!

So, if you've been lurking around for a while, you'd know about my love affair with the Maybelline Superstay range. I've found the products to really live up to the name, and the hype, which meant that I was naturally excited when I heard about the Teddy Tints. Available for $26.99 each, and can often be found on sale, due to how readily available the brand is, this comes in eight different shades. Seeing as I was buying this online, I found it hard to gauge which colour would best suit my needs, but I ended up going for Baby Tee, which is a light tea rose shade. Marketed as a 'teddy soft lip tint and plush, light feel that lasts', this is meant to give the wearer a 'flush of blurred matte colour for up to 12 hours'. This comes in a fat tube with a frosted appearance, in a colour that matches the shade inside.

It has a doe foot applicator that is quite narrow, which is great, as this lippie doesn't allow for much of a margin of error. By that, of course, it simply means that the formula (which is vegan) is quite smudge resistant, which does allow for it to be a long wearing product, but the trade off is that this can be a little drying. I find that this is best used when your lips are actually completely smooth, and thoroughly moisturised, but without a trace of product on them, much like the original Superstay Matte Ink. However, I don't find this to have as much staying power compared to them, probably because these aren't as heavily pigmented as the original version. I thought that this colour would be an almost MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade, but it actually seems slightly coral against my skin tone. It's very wearable, but not entirely what I was expecting from the colour chart.

The Falsies Surreal Extensions Mascara has a vegan formula as well, and claims to give you up to 36% length and 10 times the volume, which sounds like a fantasy, but let me tell you, the difference this product makes is phenomenal! This comes in a glossy, pastel purple tube with a thin wand. As someone with straight lashes that don't look like much when mascara is applied, I get my lashes lifted regularly to give it more of a curl. When paired with my lash lift, this mascara truly makes it look like I'm more awake, with beautiful, clump free, separated lashes that appear longer and darker than usual. It doesn't smudge at all, so that I can continue to look bright eyed and bushy tailed throughout the day without having to deal with panda eyes.

I feel like the wand distributes the product quite evenly over the lashes, and even after a 12 hour day, which means more like a 14 hour wear, this still look just about as good as when first applied. It sells for $27.99 for a tube, and I'm now curious about the Metablack version! I don't know how you could possibly improve on something that good, but you can bet I'll be trying it out to find out! Of the two products, I would say the Falsies Surreal Extensions Mascara has to be the winner, if we were looking to pick our favourite child out of the two. Does either one of them sound like something you'd be adding to cart?
