Review: Juliette Has A Gun Not A Body Oil
Let's talk about one of my last purchases from when Sephora had a points sale! I shouldn't have to tell you this at this point in our relationship - if you didn't already know, I'm a total sucker for things like GWPs (that's gift with purchase, for the uninitiated), and when it comes to things like bonus points with Sephora, it's something that I wouldn't turn down! As someone who regularly shops at Sephora, the points have been turned into little goodies, sometimes as a pick me up, and at other moments, I've had the opportunity to go to gorgeous events run by the beauty powerhouse.
In a bid to try something new (and make it to the next big event), I picked up a body oil that was new to me - the Not A Body Oil by Juliette Has A Gun! For those who are unfamiliar with the brand, this fragrance range has been stocked at Sephora and Adore Beauty for years, and while I've previously had the chance to try some of the perfumes, I was delighted to get the chance to try something else from the brand.
This is the dry oil version of arguably their most famous perfume, Not A Perfume. It's essentially a blend of three organic vegetable oil, designed to nourish the skin, while keeping it soft, and helping it stay radiant. There is jojoba oil, which is steeped in antioxidants, and is also meant to be great for hydrating the skin. It has sweet almond oil in the formula, which is said to be good for soothing and moisturising the skin. It's also meant to improve skin tone and texture.
There is also apricot oil, which is rich in fatty acids, and can help combat free radicals, in addition to keeping the skin feeling supple and hydrated. It's also meant to have anti-inflammatory properties. This oil blend comes in a bottle that looks very much like that of the perfume. Sadly, it also means that this uses a typical pump like you'd find in a perfume bottle to get the product out, which is my least favourite way of applying it. I always find that I need quite a few pumps, which can be a little annoying, and that it takes a bit of work to get out the amount that I'm after.
However, that's about the only thing that I can complain about, because this gorgeous soft, warm scent smells beautiful on my skin, and I can catch hints of it as a go on with my day. The oil itself is relatively dry, but if you're heavy handed with it, you can certainly end up feeling quite oily, so be sparing with it upon application. I would put this under the luxe body oil category, as something that I would reach for when I'm in need of a little special something, or for a fun occasion. What's your go to body oil for when you want to feel a little fancy?
