Review: Jo Loves - Jo By Jo Loves A Hand Cream
Fragrances can be such a polarizing issue. While I've always been a big fan of perfumes and layering of scents, I'm also aware that there are others who may be more sensitive to scents, to the point where aside from not liking them, they can be triggering when it comes to headaches and migraines. In short, what you love isn't going to be suitable for everyone, and the way a perfume reacts with your skin will change how it smells as well, which can change how someone perceives the scent. Fragrances are far more complex than we think, and I find perfume shopping a little bit like looking for a new swimsuit - sometimes overwhelming, but so satisfying when you find exactly you're looking for!
Now, hands up if you've never heard of Jo Malone! I know, I can't think if anyone who's never heard of them either! If you're familiar with Jo Malone, then you'd probably also know Jo Loves. While Jo Malone feels to me to be a luxury body and home fragrance brand, which conjures images of creamy, plush sofas sitting against the backdrop of a black fireplace with well situated greenery for that splash of colour, all set in an expensive suburb, Jo Loves has more of a Gen Z vibe - fresh, vivacious and fun, it also comes in a more minimalistic packaging, and also feels like a more inclusive brand.
I've had some exposure to Jo Loves, mostly in the form of body products, but also the occasional candle, and I have to say, it's beautiful every time I try something from the brand! This is precisely why I thought I'd show the brand some love on the blog, as the moment I tried the Jo by Jo Loves A Hand Cream, I fell for it instantly! This is a beautifully balanced hand cream, and it hits all the right (fragrance) notes for me!
This comes in a glossy red tube that reveals a pump, once you pull the shiny black cap off. The hand cream is very nourishing, utilising shea butter to moisturise the skin, while there's also sweet almond oil to help fight free radicals. The addition of mimosa wax is there to soothe the skin, and combined, this results in a hand cream that is easy to absorb, and leaves a lingering scent of grapefruit, lime, spearmint and bitter orange, as well as the light additional fragrance of smoky guaiac wood, cedarwood and vetiver, making it a woody-citrus fusion with excellent staying power.
I love how soft my hands feel when I use this, and how it doesn't leave my hands feeling too oily or greasy. Rather, it's just soft, with the added bonus of that gorgeous scent. It feels luxurious, and unfortunately, it also comes with a grand price tag, sitting at around $80 for 50 ml of product. It's my current go to, and I'm absolutely loving it, which also means that I'll be sad when it runs out! What's your current fave when it comes to hand creams?
