Review: Essano Vitamin C Brightening Polishing Scrub

An exfoliating scrub is an essential part of my skincare routine, and I absolutely appreciate it more in the Summer months, when my skin is a little oily, and it feels like there's a build up of stuff (sebum, oil, daily dirt, and just general crud) on the skin. It can be very helpful in buffing away all of that, and the dead skin cells that accumulate on the skin, and it allows for the other portions of my skincare routine to better penetrate my skin, so that there is better absorption overall.

I've been busy using the Essano Vitamin C Brightening Polishing Scrub, and it's been fantastic! This comes in a coral pink tube and a white flip lid, which is a pretty standard design for exfoliating scrubs. It contains 100ml of product, and this is cruelty free, vegan and made in New Zealand. This aims to produce fresher, clean skin, working almost kind of like a mini microdermabrasion.

So, what is in this that makes it a product worth trying? This contains kakadu plum, mango fruit extract, papaya fruit extract and pineapple fruit extract. It's practically a  Summer tropical fruit salad, and it smells just as good! Kakadu plum is packed full of vitamin C, which can help brighten the skin, while the papaya fruit extract can act as an anti-inflammatory to help soothe the skin, as well as aid in exfoliation.

Mango fruit extract contributes to the vitamin C content of the product, and it also has plenty of antioxidants to help fight skin damaging free radicals. Pineapple fruit extract has alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) in it that can help remove dead skin cells through gentle exfoliation, as well as bromelain, which can help soothe skin. The product squeezes out of the tube easily enough - I sometimes have scrubs that take a lot of effort to squish out, while others have been surprisingly runny, but not this one, it's just perfect. The gritty bits are very fine, and held in a cleanser of a gel texture.

I really like that this has a vague citrusy scent, and a fine grit to it, which is well distributed throughout the whole product. I love that this has both a mild chemical exfoliation property to it, as well as being a physical exfoliant. I work this into wet skin in rotational strokes, and it feels nice on the skin - not particularly scratchy, and not particularly harsh. After washing it off with warm water, my skin feels so much smoother, and I feel like it does make my other products work just that much harder. This retails for $15 and you can grab your own tube anywhere that Essano is stocked, including Priceline, Coles, Woolworths and various other retailers.
