Review: L'Oreal Elvive Big Hair Day Refreshing Volume Spray

There's one really good thing about living in Sydney when it comes to Winter - it doesn't often get cold enough that I need to wear a hat. When I headed to Europe a few years ago for my birthday, I was really excited, but when packing, I had to take into consideration what I was going to wear, and how that would affect my makeup. In fact, actually, I got my brows micro bladed, because I didn't want to remove my eyebrows while removing my hat! Those are the things that I have to think about - tell me I'm not alone here! Another thing that I had to think about? Hat hair!

The bane of my existence, when it comes to pretty much my whole life, in regards to my hair, has been the total and absolute lack of volume. It's always been flat, and has dried straight without needing hot hair tools or product. While some people may love that, I've always been envious of babes with curly/wavy tresses - the grass is always greener, am I right? It wasn't until I actually fried my hair within an inch of it's life by bleaching it on my own and dyeing it multiple times over the years, before it would actually hold some sort of shape and look full.

There's only so much hairspray can do - it's more holding the shape of my hair than lifting them at the roots, and while volumising powders can be very helpful, it also seems to cause quite a bit of clumping 24 hours later. When I discovered volumising dry shampoos, I remember thinking that my whole world was changing! And while I do still love them, I don't always need a dry shampoo, or a white cast to the hair, particularly after just washing my strands, and these day, I could simply use some volumising powder or hairspray like I used to, when I'm in need of some big hair, I no longer need to do that, as I now have the L'Oreal Elvive Big Hair Day Refreshing Volume Spray!

Spoiler - this does what it says on the label, so if that's good enough for you, you can stop reading here,  but if you're after a bit more information about what it actually is and why you need it in your life, keep going! This is for babes with flat hair that need a lift in a flash! This uses collagen peptides to help increase the root lift, creating more body and volume, and a slightly grippy feeling. This is also meant to help keep your hair looking fresher and cleaner without any residue, or weighing it down, kind of like a dry shampoo, but without the powdery white cast that we're used to from our dry shampoos.

While it's meant to have notes of pear, citrus and rose, I haven't really managed to pick up on it - to me, it smells more just kinda fruity and fresh. To use this, simply pick this up, shake it, then spray it about 10 cm from the roots. Then, use your fingers to rub it into the hair and try and fluff it up, so that your roots can get that boost. The magic happens in seconds, and I absolutely adore this spray - it now lives in the locker at work, which means that  post work me will always have stunning, big hair! This retails for just under $20 per bottle, and you can find it at various retailers, including Chemist Warehouse. What's your kind of dream hair?
