Review: Drunk Elephant F-Balm™ Electrolyte Waterfacial Hydration Mask

Just as you're reading this, I should be making my way into Sydney and landing right about... now. While I'm really looking forward to seeing my little cat again, who is, FYI, the most important member of this family, and arguably, the cutest, and feeling a little round from my many eating adventures, I'm also really looking forward to reconnecting with a piece of skincare that I desperately need, after being on a few planes and different climate, and that is the Drunk Elephant F-Balm™ Electrolyte Waterfacial Hydration Mask.

I think it's actually kinda crazy that I'm still working my way through the Christmas set that I bought for myself from Mecca. When you think about it, this says something about value for money, and I certainly feel like I've gotten bang for my buck with the number of products I've had the chance to try, not to mention that luggage that I now possess! The F-Balm™ Electrolyte Waterfacial Hydration Mask retails for $92 for 50 ml of product, and this is said to be a hydrating overnight facial mask that's meant to help target skin concerns like dehydration, dryness, dullness and redness. Essentially, it's supposed to help firm, plump, hydrate and nourish the skin, as well as soothing it, all while being fragrance free.

To do so, this uses a number of key ingredients, in particular, the four electrolyte blend, which is comprised of coconut water, sodium PCA, magnesium PCA and prickly pear extract. These are steeped in antioxidants and humectant properties, which means that they can help fight free radicals, and the damage they cause, while also improving the skin barrier, calming redness, and protecting against dehydration. Additionally, this has niacinamide, which can help repair skin barrier function, while improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness, as well as preventing the appearance of pigmentation. Niacinamide is also good for helping to even out skin tone and texture.

I love that this also has ceramides in it, which can help improve the look of sensitive and stressed out skin. Last but not least, this also contains Vitamin F, which is made up of essential fatty acids, and great for maintaining hydration levels in the skin, while also improving skin texture, keeping it supple, reducing inflammation and improving skin barrier strength. All this comes packaged in a white bottle with a blue top that has a pump built into it, and I love that it's cohesive with the rest of the range. I find about four pumps to be sufficient for my skin, and this is the last thing that I massage into my skin, just before heading off to bed.

I really like that this doesn't react with any other bits of skincare, and that it isn't greasy or heavy on the skin. Honestly, it just feels like a skin cream to me, which means it's very comfortable to wear and sleep in. I also really appreciate that this does leave my skin feeling really soft in the morning when I use it, than without it.  I think of this more as a stronger night cream, rather than a mask, but it is gorgeous and easy to use as a maintenance product, rather than to try and boost my skin in a major way. Do you use an overnight mask?
