Review: Conserving Beauty InstaMelt™ Deep Exfoliating Day Dissolver Wipes 30 Pack
It has been really interesting seeing how the beauty industry has evolved over the years, watching trends come and go, and observing a fantastic rise in a skincare products with a heavy emphasis on sustainability. Annoyingly, there has also been an uptick in greenwashing, and brands trying to push their way into the market with claims of reducing their carbon footprint and improved sustainability, which means that you have to wade through the fine print to figure out how sincere their intentions are.
I do, however, remain optimistic, because, after all, this may actually encourage the companies to re-evaluate their values, and contemplate what they can do better. I do like it's a step in the right direction, and hopefully, this means that as the years roll by, we'll find more companies actually being accountable for their actions, with increased transparency. On that note, Conserving Beauty is a brand that ticks a lot of boxes for me, and as a vegan, waterless, responsibly packaged, palm oil free and ethically sourced beauty brand, I've been more than impressed by their InstaMelt™ Deep Exfoliating Day Remover Wipes!
While there have been brands on the market that have created wipes that you could activate with water, this is actually one that leaves absolutely zero waste. A box contains 30 separate wipes that are individually wrapped, and these don't add to landfill either, because they are home compostable, as is the carton (which is also recyclable) - I mean, how great is that? It does have to come presented in this manner, however, as these would melt if exposed to water, which at least means that they are great for travel, especially for the babes that travel a lot!
Each sheet is made from a patent-protected water soluble polymer, which is then infused with their formula that's pumped full of squalene, jojoba oil, jojoba esters, hemp seed oil, sunflower seed oil and vitamin E. These ingredients ensure that the skin stays hydrated, while maintaining the moisture barrier, as well as helping to reduce inflammation. They can also help fight free radicals, while balancing oil production and soothing the skin.
When put together, these gently remove makeup and dirt from the skin, leaving behind clean and moisturised skin that feels refreshed. How do you get that, you ask? Easy - simply use either side to remove your makeup and anything else you'd like to take off, then use the excess oil on the skin to tackle all of the tricky bits, such as mascara, like you would with an oil cleanser, before washing it off. You can then dissolve the wipe itself in incidental water, or it will degrade within 14 days if it ends up in landfill, so it's a win win either way! It leaves my skin feeling as described, and it truly is gorgeous for $39 for a pack. You can find it at Mecca, or through other online retailers. It's really clever, and it is worth trying! Have you tried anything from Conserving Beauty?
