Review: No 7 That's A Wrap! Tubing Mascara

Happy Sunday! Being an adult means having to work, even when you have milestones you want to celebrate, but it also means being mature enough to recognise that it's not about the timing, and that it simply about making the time, when you have it, to spend it with the people that you love. In this particular instance, I'm talking about celebrating my husband's birthday, and us both having to work yesterday, on his actual birthday, and not actually having much to do with each other. That said, we're just about to more than make up for it with some travelling over the next couple of months, so we're all good!

When I travel, I like to keep my makeup light, and have a few very reliable products that I know would go the distance. One of my favourite things that would work really well in just about any environment - rain, hail or shine, quite literally - is a good mascara that doesn't smudge or run, and at this point, what I'm really loving as a daily thing is a tubing mascara. There is nothing that ruins the pictures faster than panda eyes, which can often show up as dark circles under the eyes - it's definitely not a sexy look for me!

While shopping on the Priceline website recently, I was happily surprised to see that No 7, a brand well known for their skincare products, actually carried a range of makeup products, and given that I've been really impressed by what I've tried from them, I was keen to give their makeup collection a go. There's a limited selection of items at this point, but I really wanted to try their tubing mascara, as I'd heard that it was a dupe for the Hourglass version, and buying something that felt luxe for less was definitely up this broke girl's alley!

This comes in a matte gold tube with a slim wand that has a small, but relatively standard brush on the end. There is no discernible scent, and I find that the brush does a very decent job of distributing the mascara over the miniscule lashes, allowing the mascara to coat the lashes nicely, making them look darker. While I cannot speak to whether it helps to curl the lashes or not, I can attest to this making them look fuller, and more voluminous.

The magic of a tubing mascara, of course, is that the mascara wraps around the lashes, and it doesn't smudge at all, no matter how hard you cry, which makes this essentially perfect for my profession. I feel like being a vet is about being dehydrated a lot - mostly because I never quite have the time to drink while I'm on the go, and I cry a lot at work, even after almost twenty years. It's a decent tubing mascara, but if you're after length, you're out of luck. That said, for $36, it's not cheap, but I do feel like this is worth it. Now available at Priceline, I'm hoping that they get more products over time! What's your favourite tubing mascara?
