Review: Essano Collagen Boost Gentle Oil Cleanser
My makeup obsession feels like something that will never go away. From the time I was introduced to colour, on my eyelids, on my lips, at the tender age of 6 years old, it's really taken off from there. I mean, my twenties was a blur of shades and colours - and I've never even taken any interesting drugs in my life, so none of those colours have been a manifestation of my imagination. It's has been a fun, messy ride, and I've loved absolutely every moment of it. Well, almost.
When it comes time to take it all off, it can get tricky. I have tried a lot of products over the years, starting with baby lotion in my formation years when I did a lot of dance recitals, and I remember the makeup being really caked on. This then shifted to very oil makeup removal products that were popular in the 90's, and that always left a layer of oily material, as well as a sheen to match. Then, micellar water came out, and that was a real turning point for removing make up - it's not oily, not messy, and easy to use. Could you improve on something fantastic? You absolutely can!
Micellar water then gave way to cleansing balms, which are absolutely stellar at doing some heavy lifting to remove stubborn, waterproof makeup. This then evolved into one of my favourite ways to remove makeup these days, and that's with a cleansing oil. And now, I know that we're only in March, but if there's any product you should try from Essano this year, make it their Collagen Boost Gentle Oil Cleanser! This smooth cleanser is a blend of rosehip and jojoba oils to help nourish the skin, and it also has schissandra berries, which is supposed to battle free radicals, improving the elasticity and firmness of the skin.
The simplicity of oil cleansers is that you don't need to fuss around with cotton swabs or reusable pads - all you have to do is apply this to dry skin, working it into the face in rotational strokes, and when you're ready, add a bit of water to it. This will help emulsify it, turning it into a milky solution that you should still continue massaging into the skin. Doing so will help lift the makeup, skincare and dirt from the surface of the skin, leaving it feeling moisturised and clean. I love that this comes in a clear bottle with an efficient pump that produces a decent amount each time. I find about two pumps to work for most days, and three if I'm really trying to get every scrap of makeup off before hitting the hay.
This does such an amazing job of removing my makeup, and to ensure that I don't leave anything behind, I always follow it up with a regular cleanser - double cleansing is a must do for me! I love that it leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, and ready to take on the next few layers of my skincare. I would definitely recommend this for the lazy babe, because this is so easy to use, and just as easy to love! For just $30, and we all know that Essano goes on sale regularly, this too could be yours! What is your favourite cleansing oil?
