Review: Colour Theory Cosmetics *

My sisters can sometimes be incredibly indulgent, particularly when I visit them in their respective countries and I want to linger in pharmacies while out and about with them. That's because I have a great love for makeup and skincare and the new and different! With that in mind, let's talk about Colour Theory and some of the products in the range!

Let's just take this moment to appreciate this thing of beauty - this gorgeous eye shadow set has five different shades of silver/blue and it comes in a clear perspex case that shows off every colour.

The colours are relatively rich and while they do go onto the brush easily, there is a fair bit of fallout. This also comes with a sponge tip applicator and a little brus. What I do love about this is how pigmented it is, and I intend to try for a blue eyeliner look at the next chance I get!

This retails for a low $10.

I love a good dark lippie, and as such, the Colour Theory lipstick in Mystique is a bold and gorgeous choice for me. This lipstick comes in a clear perspex case with that is easy to uncap. The lipstick itself is very pigmented (surprisingly so - I was a little heavy handed with it initially, and ended up with clown mouth) and stains the lips effectively. It's also amazingly creamy and this will glide right across the lips. For $6, I want to get my hands on more!

Also for $6, you will find a selection of lip liners, including the one pictured in Wine and Dine, which goes perfectly with the lipstick. This doesn't tug at the outlines of your lips, but instead, it goes on smoothly.

This blush! Continuing on the $6 makeup train, this blush in Cheeky Glow is the perfect Summer shade for me. It's a peachy pink, on which I'm peachy keen (sorry, couldn't resist!) and it just gives me a bit of a healthy boost to the skin. It settles nicely on the skin and it brightens the face nicely.

I was really excited about trying out the waterproof Define Mascara, because a waterproof mascara for only $8? Yes, please! I found this to volumise and lengthen, as promised, but not particularly curl (I think we all know how I feel about curling mascaras by now). It has a nice thin brush to help distribute mascara all over the lashes.

Sadly, I also found this to smudge throughout the course of the day. While I liked how well this worked on my lashes initially, I don't think I can use this too often, given that I'd look like a panda by the end of the day.

I will say that this can be different on others, because I passed this onto a friend, and I have see first hand how great and smudge free it can be on her, so if you're looking to try this, definitely give it a go - it might work out well on you, even though it's not great on me!

I have tried a nail polish from Colour Theory previously, and I'm happy to report that it is as I remember it - easy to use, and goes on nicely. Two coats made it quite opaque, and a top coat gave it a glossy finish. This particular polish in Va Va Voom Pink is just right for Spring, because it just makes me think of bright and vivid florals - just be careful when you're out in the sunshine, because it can get quite shiny, so don't blind yourself! This retails for $4.

I used everything pictured above to come up with this look. Not perfect for every day use, but certainly a good one for a night out!

Colour Theory can be found at Amcal, Amcal Max and Guardian Pharmacies and the range also includes a primer, liquid liner and tinted moisturiser, among other products. Starting from $4, it only goes up to $10 and as far as value for money goes, this is a range you need to check out!
