Review: Sol de Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Oil in Rio Sunset
Can you feel the days warming up? Being in Spring is always such a time of excitement! I love the vibes in the air, the days stretching out longer, and the nights getting shorter, and the flowers are starting to bloom - bye bye Winter, hello, hotter days ahead! It also means showing more skin when you step out of the door for receiving a bit of Vitamin D with open arms - safely, of course, with your sunscreen on! And thanks to the team at Sol de Janeiro, famous for their Bum Bum Cream, you can now fake until you make it - or just keep faking it, and staying sun safe!
To help extend and enhance that Summer feel, well into the night after the sun has set, I've been using, and loving, the Sol de Janeiro Glow Oil in Rio Sunset, and this has been absolutely delicious on my skin! This has a big cap, which is easy to remove, and there is also a safety lock on the pump itself, which is great, because this means that you can prevent any messy accidents from happening by twisting it and closing it off, even though the cap is quite secure.
The oil isn't a dry oil - I find dry oils to completely dry down, and not come off when touched. This does dry down, but can be a little tacky to the touch for quite a few hours afterwards. I find that the sparkles are still quite present on the skin the following day, without being tacky then, and doesn't appear to transfer from the skin to the clothes overnight. I love that this doesn't have huge chunks of glitter (hello, 90's, I remember you), and instead, is more of a warm shimmer to add some luminosity to your skin.
I also wasn't quite prepared for the scent of this oil - a beautiful burst of wild fig and Brazilian gardenia, this is an intoxicating mix that will immediately invoke images of hot Summer days in the sun, and even hotter Summer nights out, or in! It is sexy and gorgeous, with a touch of wild. I think I could wear this solely the scent, in all honesty. All of this, and the ingredients also pack a bit of a punch, with the inclusion of several different oils to keep your skin soft, such as Coconut Oil, Cotton Seed Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil, among others. This has the added bonus of being vegan and cruelty free.
This retails for $53 for 75 ml of product, and you can find them over here at Mecca, if you're looking to buy locally, or over here at Cult Beauty. This is the champagne shimmer version of the oil, and if you're wanting to go darker, grab a bottle of the Copacabana Bronze, or the Carnaval Queen if you're after something with a pink tinge to it. Either way, I think you'll agree that this little baby is worth the dough! What have you tried from Sol de Janeiro?
