Review Revisited: Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator
One of the possibly healthiest and biggest trends to come up over the years has been the practice of carting litres of water around with us when being out and about. It's definitely become a prominent part of fashion now to have a flashy and fun water bottle that you can stay hydrated with - who would have thought that the humble water bottle would now take centre stage in such a way that people actually obsess over the vessel that they have? Just remember that while you're hydrating your body, you should also be taking measures to moisturise your skin!
I've long been a fan of Clinique's products, and while strolling down memory lane recently, I thought I'd repurchase the 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator to see how it would perform on my skin, three years down the road. If you're looking for a refresher on how it previously worked on me, you can find the post over here. As a reminder, this is an oil-free gel-cream moisturiser that has a lightweight formula, and this is supposed to keep the skin hydrated for up to 100 hours, as the name would suggest, even after you've washed your skin.
The formula contains hyaluronic acid, which is meant to help retain moisture, and it's able to hold up to 1000 times it's weight in water, so that your skin can stay hydrated for longer. This actually contains two different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, so that they can essentially divide and conquer accordingly. There's also aloe bio-ferment, which is comprised of lactobacillus, activated aloe water and organic aloe extract powder. The activated aloe water is made up of pure water infused with aloe barbadensis leaf extract, which can hold both positive and negative ionic charges, making it so that it gets absorbed more easily.
The best part is that this lives up to the auto-replenishing bit of the name by using the activated aloe water and caffeine to kick start the skin's own rehydration system. How clever is that! This comes in a jar with a screw lid, and I love that this has a bouncy gel texture that spreads beautifully over the skin. It gets absorbed quickly, and it hydrates the skin in a flash! This doesn't have an obvious scent, and it's doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky at all. It layers well with other products, and I love this as much now as I did then.
Whenever I try products again, I'm never sure if I'd feel the same way, and I can honestly say that my feelings haven't budged one bit. It's as good now as it ever was, and I can't love it enough! Three years apart, and it's just like it was back when I first tried it. This comes in 15 ml, 50 ml and 125 ml jars and it retails at $22, $62 and $115 respectively. It's available at various retailers, including Mecca, Adore Beauty, Myer and David Jones. What's your most repeated Clinique product?
