Review: The Ordinary 100% Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
It's been ages since I've had the chance to try a new face oil, and I felt the burning desire to try something that I used to apply all the time, and somehow, it managed to fade away from the scene - no time like the present to bring it back into my life! That, of course, is rosehip oil! There was a time, way back when I started blogging, when I went through bottles of rosehip oil, and I absolutely loved it. I wanted to see if there feelings were still there, and if it was as good as I remembered it to be.
The Ordinary has risen in popularity over the years, while still managing to maintain a reasonable price range, making it a very accessible brand for all. They are sold in multiple locations, both in store at places like Priceline and online, at Adore Beauty. At $18.90 for 30 ml of product, this is very affordable, and spoiler, a lovely addition to the rotation. For those not in the know, here are the top key benefits of using this rose hip seed oil.
It's an organic oil that steeped in omega fatty acids and pro-vitamin A to help the skin cells regenerate, while nourishing dry skin types. Cold-pressed to help keep the oil from degrading, it's touted as an excellent anti-aging product that's also supposed to moisturise the skin. The pro-vitamin A is meant to reduce the appearance of dark spots, fine lines and general damage inflicted by UV rays, while there is a combination of omega fatty acids, where omega 6 and omega 3 come to soothe and moisturise dry skin.
Much like the rest of the range, this comes in an amber bottle with a dropper, and a white label that makes it easy to decipher which product you have. I layer this over my serum in the evenings, and sometimes in the mornings, for when my skin is feeling particularly dry, and I find about 4 drops to be the right amount for this time of year. It is quite an oily oil, and can take a bit to tap into the skin, which gives me a chance to massage it into my skin, letting me pause for a moment after a long day - a nice mindful moment as a reminder to slow down.
Once I started using this, I was reminded by why I loved it so much years ago! It's fantastic for keeping my skin moisturised, and I've noticed it feeling a little less dry at the end of a 12 hour shift at work, and that's with me just using it in the evenings. This is suitable for multiple skin types, but use if with caution if you have oil or acne-prone skin, as this can be quite heavy. For a reintroduction to the oil, this has been a successful one, and I'll be finishing the bottle! What have you loved from The Ordinary?
