Review: TBH (The Biofilm Hack) Thirst Trap Moisturiser

At the core of it, when it comes to Winter skincare, it's all about keeping your skin moisturised! Part of that is by using the same trick that I take for when it comes to dressing for Winter - lots and lots and lots of layers! I like to think of my final step, which is the moisturiser, as the seal that's meant to help keep everything on the skin, so that it can all be absorbed, to try and keep my skin looking and feeling as fresh as possible. I know that it's a lot to be asking of my moisturiser, but dang it, someone's got to do the hard work!

Given my previous success with TBH (you can find the post over here), I really wanted to give the brand another go, as I truly feel like part of having good skin is supporting what you already have, so that you can build up from there, if that makes sense. In short, take care of what you have, strengthen it so that it can be at it's best baseline shape, then you can do all sorts of other fancy things so that you can add to your skin in a way that works for you.

The Thirst Trap Moisturiser appealed to mas, as I wanted something that would help keep my skin hydrated, without feeling greasy, which is one of the follies that I fall into over the dry months, thinking that I might need something a little heavier, but instead, ending up with an oilier texture on my skin. This vegan and cruelty free moisturiser is designed to slow water loss, so that the skin can stay moisturised and plump, while also helping to strengthen the skin's normal barrier. This comes in a tube with a flip lid, and in a mix of orange and white.

This contains some beautiful ingredients, such as squalene to help support the skin's natural defences, while there's also Vitamin E for conditioning the skin. There's also glycerin, pentavitin, sodium, PCA and Genencare to help keep the skin moisturised for this. This has a light texture, despite coming out as quite a thick lotion initially, but it does thin out really nicely with very little effort. While my dry/normal skin feels moisturised initially, within an hour or so, it actually feels a little dry, in that it feels like there's nothing on my skin, and when I wear this during the day, beneath my SPF, I find that my skin does feel a little dry sooner in the day.

Sadly, this isn't the moisturiser for me, as I think I need a bigger hit of hydration. This may be one of the few times where this really is formulated for those with oily skin, while not a bad idea for my skin, I don't benefit it as much as someone else could, and I can definitely see their place in the market. It's potentially ideal for teenagers with oily skin that really want to moisturise their skin and establish a skincare routine, but feel like lots of the creams and lotions available may be too heavy for them. This is a relatively affordable $34.95, which gets you 100 ml of product, and you can find it at various retailers, including Priceline and Adore Beauty. What's your favourite moisturiser for your skin type?
