Review: Uni Golden Microalgae Body Oil
You know that you're in the thick of Winter when your skin ends up feeling dry, even though you're still moisturising every day, and it gets to the point where it feels a little tight and a bit itchy. Just imagine how extreme it must be in other countries, not to mention other states that aren't NSW! Comparatively, I think that the climate here in Sydney really isn't that bad, but I am just a little bit soft, and we have to remember that unlike other countries, we don't rely as heavily on central heating, which is both a good and bad thing. It's at times like this that I like to step up my moisturising routine.
On a recent online trip to Mecca, I realised that there was a new body oil on their website, and that's the Uni Golden Microalgae Body Oil! Like just about every other body oil out there, it's said to be hydrating and smoothing, and this is also supposed to help keep the skin firm. This is housed in a tall, clear glass bottle with a very long dropper built into the cap, which means that it does deposit a decent amount of oil each time. While it's a simple design, it's quite effective, and I love that you can track how much oil you have left simply by glancing at it.
This uses golden microalgae, as the name would suggest, as it's hero ingredient. This is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, which can help visibly contour, smooth and firm skin, while also working on skin elasticity. This also has sustainable Kalahari melon oil in the formula, which has been sourced from the Kalahari Desert, and this is supposed to help nourish skin, while also improving skin elasticity. Additionally, it also has upcycled passionfruit oil and Australian Kakadu plum oil, both of which are meant to hydrate the skin, lending it a radiant and natural glow.
It is a golden oil that spreads easily over the skin and at first glance, I thought this was going to be quite a heavy, thick oil, but surprisingly, this actually thins out quite nicely, and is more of a dry oil than I realised it was going to be. This doesn't have a heavy fragrance attached to it. Rather, this has quite a subtle scent that doesn't linger, and would be appropriate for those who may be sensitive to smells. It can also be layered, so that you can work on an area of your body that may need a bit more attention.
