Model Co - The Good, The Bad and The Pretty Part 2

Happy weekend!
I thought I'd finish the week on by wrapping things up with my Model Co review! Part 1 was all about the eyes, and Part 2 looks into the lips! Geddit - eyes, looks? Sorry for the terrible pun!

All 6 items above were used to create the FOTD below:

Given the general shades of eyeshadow, I thought I'd go with a bit of a 'just kissed' lips and started by applying the Cheek + Lip tint.

It's a little pink tube and this stuff really stains!

As you can see, it's quite a thick consistency, almost jelly like, and it also smells kinda like grape to me, but that could just be me!

/The bad news? I found that it DEEPLY stained my fingertips, and that no amount of scrubbing could actually get it off. When applied to my lips, because of the consistency, it stained in the creases, and kind of 'blobbed' on my lips.

However, while not as good coverage or as consistent as Benefit's Benetint is, I do like the colour, and it's hold. Due to the deeply staining nature of this product, though, I haven't been game enough to try it on my cheeks!

Next up, I lined my lips with their lipliner in Nectarine, a rather pretty rosy pink. This is well pigmented and creamy - a definite winner! I found this to be really smooth on my lips and it created a fuller and more defined set of smackers.

I then topped it off with their lip duo, starting by using the lipstick in Nude, which sadly, failed to impress. It just wasn't creamy enough, moisturising enough or pigmented enough - this definitely took a few swipes and it didn't go far.

The gloss, however, was rather pretty. While not particularly shiny or pigmented, this little gloss had the best, strawberry-like scent, and the formula wasn't sticky or uncomfortable on my lips. It sat well, but didn't last for long. The gloss would be ideal for someone looking to wear a light little something without being really made up.

My verdict? Ok stain (pros and cons) that I will get use out of, great lip liner, and not good lipstick with a rather nice lipgloss.

Model Co, overall, is a little hit and miss for me, particularly at those prices, and if I were to specifically look for a product from them, I'd need to do a bit of digging and research before succumbing to such a purchase.

What are your thoughts about Model Co?

  1. Hi Leah ^_^ hope you had a great month! my holiday went so quickly!
I haven't found a single modelco product I liked..i had the duo gloss/stick it was a bit dry as you mentioned. I've been using the lip/cheek stain with a brush. When I blobbed it on with my fingers it didn't spread very well.

    1. It's such a shame, because you just think it's filled with promise, only to be disappointed by this.

  5. You look great.. I haven't been game to try the tint on my cheeks either.. Actually, just realised I didn't count this in my Lipstick Tag.. oh my.. I really don't have many lipsticks. At least I can say that I haven't wasted a heap of money in that department! I'm happy to try more ModelCo.. if they want to give it to me for free.. why not? :)
