January Binned Things and Shopping Ban Update!

Hello, my gorgeous little things!
Holy Moly - it's the end of the first month of 2014 and well into Feb! Whhhhaaaaatttt? It's crazy how quickly time passes! Just one more month of the ban for me (more like 2 weeks now!), and I can officially start shopping for myself again! I've been pretty good with the ban, but sadly, had to buy a top recently due to my injury limiting all my current fashion choices to outfits that can be pulled upwards (ie nothing that I'd need to tug down over my head). Otherwise, I've been pretty steadfast in not buying anything for myself!

As far as my injury goes, I'm coping well enough, so woo hoo! I haven't been back to work yet, but I am having dreams about it, and I'm currently waiting to see what the doctor says about it!

Please keep in mind, once again, that whether I would repurchase them or not is based on how much I enjoyed the product, regardless of animal testing.

Enough babbling, here are my empties for the first month of 2014!

Not quite as crazy as it's been in previous months, but not bad either.

1) Dove Clinical Protection Deodorant - now that I've found this, it's just too hard for me to go without it, considering that I know that going without it makes me really sweaty!
Repurchase? Yes!

2) Dove Antiperspirant Spray - another staple - just love this! In trying to go cruelty free, this is certainly something I have problems with giving up.
Repurchase? Absolutely

3) Wotnot Facial Wipes - a pretty big must have for me now, these wipes are gorgeous! I'm really pleased with these wipes - removes a lot of makeup and leaves the skin smooth and moisturized! If you haven't tried them yet, then what the heck are you waiting for?
Repurchase? Already done

4) Listerine Mouthwash - bit of a staple for me as well! Love this stuff!
Repurchase? Going through another bottle already!

5) Neutrogena Hand Cream - this was the first thing I found to prevent my hands from cracking in severely dry weather back about 12 years ago, and I've loved it ever since. I would like to find a cruelty free brand that performs in a similar fashion!
Repurchase? Yes

6) Swisse Hair Conditioner - a pretty lightweight hair conditioner that's free of a lot of the baddies, I found this to work quite well on my hair, resulting in smooth tangle free hair!
Repurchase? Maybe

7) Lonvitalite Coconut Milk Hydrating and Nourishing Face Mask - see full review here.
Repurchase? Yes

8) The Body Shop Shea Body Butter - I quite enjoyed this body butter. It was sheer and light on the skin, and absorbed relatively well. It also didn't have a strong smell.
Repurchase? Yes

9) The Face Shop Real Nature Mask Lemon - see the full review here.
Repurchase? No, as it wasn't my favourite type!

10) Lush Stepping Stone - designed to get rid of the dead, yucky skin on your feet, I found that this left my skin feeling very moisturized and smooth!
Repurchase? Yes!

11) Indio Smooth Emulsion - an anti-aging lotion with a hefty price tag received in a previous Bella Box,  I really enjoyed this one! It felt like it left my skin plump and nourished. Unfortunately, the price tag makes this prohibitive.
Repurchase? No, based on the cost alone.

12) Etude House Wonder Pore Corrector - this little gel was meant to help shrink the pores after using the toner. It was quite a lovely cooling gel, and while it certainly went on well, I don't think it did all that much. It was fun to use, though!
Repurchase? No.

13) Woolworth's Homebrand Makeup Removal Pads - pretty thick, does the job, have backups in the cupboard!
Repurchase? Yes!

14) Biore Pore Strip - I like to use these guys once in a while to get out all the stuff in my nose. Gross, I know, but so satisfying!
Repurchase? Already have a stack!

15) Tony Moly Panda's Dream Eye Patch - I'll be honest, this packaging really sold me on it! Two cloth patches placed over my eyes for 15 minutes, which were cooling, but didn't really do much for me.
Repurchase? No

16) Almay Shimmer Pearls in Born to be Bronzed - I bought this a while ago, and it was starting to look old. I didn't particularly love it at that time, but was just hanging on to it as it was barely used.
Repurchase? No

17) Almay Shimmer Pearls in Dawn's Early Light - as above.
Repurchase? No

18) Essie Quick Dry Top Coat - Really, really enjoyed this, but it got a little gloopy and hard to use with 1/5th of the bottle left to go!
Repurchase? Yes

19) Maybelline Cool Effect Eye Colour - REALLY old product, which dried up in the tube!
Repurchase? No

20) Revitanail Conditioning Remover Wipes - cute and gimmicky, these wipes, while effective at removing nail polish, also left my hands feeling a little greasy! Not the best at taking off glitter either. This is, however, good for travel.
Repurchase? No

I've decided that I'll no longer be going through all my samples on an individual basis, but I will point out some stand out samples. They include the Kate Somerville Exfolikate mask, Smashbox primer, Philosophy serum and Nail Polish Remover Pad from Target USA.

That's all for January! I'm actually making a dent in my beauty and body supplies! Is anyone else feeling like they are working their way through their stash?

  1. Great work. I'd sort of forgotten about my one spending ban.. but besides the stuff I bought with money from my mother in law, I'm actually still doing really well :)
I love the Dove clinical, I bought the Revlon equivalent but do not like it nearly as much! I won a heap of Indio, I really must start using it :) x

    1. Good job! It's annoying how vigilant I have to be, but I'm pretty proud of myself! I was wondering if the Rexona one would be as good, so it's good to know!

    1. I've been accused of drinking them. ;) Could be worse - at least it doesn't hurt as much anymore when I have to move/walk/shower!
