Review: Ishizawa Keana Nadeshiko Rice Face Pack
With social media being so very present in everyday life, it's impossible to avoid the rise of viral products from around the world trending everywhere, which actually makes it easy to make a list of items that might pique the interest, so that you're armed with ideas of what you should be looking to add to your cart before you even make it to a different country. There was one such product that I kept seeing on Instagram over and over again, so, of course, when I made it over to Japan, it practically made itself over to my basket, and now, I get to talk about the Ishizawa Keana Nadeshiko Rice Face Pack!
So, let's talk about this crazy, popular face mask! This face pack is designed to cleanse and hydrate the skin, so that you can be left with skin that feels smooth and refreshed. It's supposed to help exfoliate the skin, remove dirt, dead skin cells and impurities. This face mask is also meant to help lock in moisture and prevent skin dryness, keeping your complexion soft. Additionally, it acts to gently exfoliate the skin, improving the skin texture and keeping it smooth.
To do so, it includes rice bran as the key ingredient, which seems very apt, given that rice is such a massive part of Asian cultures - I mean, I think of rice as a bit of comfort food, something to go home to when things are going a little pear shaped, and we can also consider it a giver of life, if you will, a quiet staple that people have on a daily basis. In this instance, it is what is primarily responsible for brightening, hydrating and smoothing the skin, and it comes in the cutest pack.
This is packaged into a squeezy pouch, much like you'd find with yoghurts or baby food, and it's surprisingly effective at helping you titrate the amount of mask that you'd like to get out. This is relatively thick, and has a bit of a clumpy texture, which actually spreads relatively well. I find that I have to make sure that the layer is pretty level in order to move around with it on my face, however, or else bits of this might slide off. I let it sit for about 15 minutes before washing it off, and I like that it isn't particularly messy.
As someone with normal to dry skin, leaning more towards dry in the Winter months, this is something that does feel like it gives my skin a bit of a boost. It's particularly soothing for me when I've been outside and my face has been exposed to the elements. This makes it feel less taut and stretched, if you know what I mean, and more just soothed and soft. While I travelled to Japan and picked this up during my stay there, you're in luck, because this is available in Australia too! You can find this at various retailers, including W Cosmetics, for around $28. It's not life changing, but it is something that makes my skin feel more comfortable, and therefore, worth paying for! What is your dry weather fail safe product?
