Review: Saie Glow Sculpt Multi Use Cream Highlighting Blush in 'Mauve Glow'
Happy Sunday! I've had such a beautiful week with cats, intermittent sunshine and family, and now it's time to chill out a little bit, before heading out to a work event this evening. The upside of working at as a veterinarian is that when we do team bonding events, you can just about guarantee that it would be quirky, and as luck would have it, there are two cat themed art house movies currently out, and I'm very excited that I'll be getting the chance to watch one of them! Incidentally, if you're able to, I would recommend watching the animation, Flow - beautifully done, and a gorgeous watch!
This means that, sadly, I won't be able to just be a slug at home this evening, but it does mean that I can focus on a 'no makeup' makeup look for the evening - just enough to look fresh faced and happy, but not so much that it might look like an overly glam look for a simple evening out for movie and a meal with people I see daily. Essentially, it's a low fuss, no muss makeup situation that will still have you looking cute.
When it comes to looks like that, my weapons of choice are primarily cream based ones - easy to apply, low resistance when it comes to taking it off, and blending tends to be a dream. Being cooler also means it's less likely to slide around for me, and as I don't intend on being out for very long, I don't need to worry about the wear time either, as cream products tend to not last as long on my skin. For those who don't dabble in cream products as much, another upside of it is that they don't settle in the little creases and lines of the face, unlike powder, so they don't tend to highlight wrinkles as much.
As part of the Cult Beauty advent calendar last year, I received the Saie Glow Sculpt Multi Use Cream Highlighting Blush in 'Mauve Glow', which has been a bit of an interesting journey. Let me be the first to say that I love Saie! While I haven't tried much from the brand so far, the one thing that I have used, I absolutely adored, and you can read all about the Glowy Super Gel in Starglow over here. When I read that the Glow Sculpt Multi Use Cream Highlighting Blush was a multitasker, hailed as a sort of 'hybrid hero', I was intrigued, to say the least. This is touted as having a hybrid formula, and it works as both a blush and highlighter.
It delivers a blush that looks like a flush on the skin, melting into the skin and giving it a natural pink shade. It's also buildable, which means that you can work it up to a bolder, darker colour to suit your look and our mood. It also has the added bonus of having kukui oil in the formula to nourish the skin, smoothing and softening it, while hyaluronic acid draws in moisture, keeping the skin feeling bouncy. I absolutely love how it looks and feels on me, but it also did take me a little bit to figure out how to use it. I found that when I used a brush, it made it hard to blend in all the right places, and when I used a makeup sponge, it was also a little blotchy. My favourite way to do it is by using my fingers - just a little dab, dab, dab, then I melt it further into the skin by blending it gently with my fingers, adding the occasional tap. It sits at just under $45, and you can find it in 5 different shades, over here. Are you more about cream or powder?
