Review: Lancome Advanced Genifique Eye Cream

As we all know, while our genetics are responsible for a lot of things, ranging anywhere from our physical attributes, like our height, all the way through to less tangible things, like our preference for things that we would eat and our mannerisms, there's only so much it can do when it comes to our skin. It has certainly helped in establishing a wonderful baseline for me (thanks, mother!), but there's only so much it can do. I live in a different climate to the rest of my family, and other factors, such as work and the amount of sleep that I get, certainly contribute to how I look.

This means that if I would like to try and maintain this particular baseline for my skin, I'd have to find the right skincare for my skin. And of course, when it comes to my skin, I want to look bright, dewy and healthy, and part of that comes down to looking more awake as well. This means that a good eye cream is worth it's weight in gold to me. I've been trying out the Lancome Advanced Genifique Yeux Eye Cream, and I was attracted to this based a number of selling points, such as it being an anti-ageing eye cream that's formulated to reduce puffiness, fine lines and dark circles.

The formula includes prebiotics, probiotics, hyaluronic acid and vitamin CG to help brighten and the smooth the delicate area around the eyes, so that you can look rejuvenated, reducing signs of fatigue. This is also supposed to add radiance to the skin, helping it stay moisturised. In total, there are 4 probiotic fractions, 3 previotic fractions and for those wondering, like I was, the vitamin CG is basically a stable form of vitamin C, and great for improving the skin tone. It's meant to be suitable for sensitive eyes and great for use both in the morning and evening.

This come in a relatively flat, but wide, jar with a screw cap, and when I initially popped it on the skin, the texture reminded me of icing, except that it's not actually stick. It's kind of like a gel-cream texture, and with a bit of patience and sufficient tapping, this gets absorbed relatively quickly. It's recommended that you cover the skin over the upper and lower eye contour first with light, gentle strokes, before patting it into the skin.

It's an easy eye cream to like! I will say that this does seem to help keep my skin looking bright and feeling moisturised, which means that it can help with the fine lines that can gather in the area. It doesn't make a big difference for my dark circles, but not many things do, aside from extra sleep, and where would you get that from? It does feel a little rich on my skin, but not thick or cloying, which I appreciate. This comes with a steep price tag of around $123 for a 15 ml jar, and while I do love it, I can understand this being prohibitively expensive for a lot of people, and based on the cost, I would hesitate to spend that amount for a top up. The good news, though, is that it can occasionally go on sale, like right now, on Adore Beauty, so make sure you shop around!
