Review: KraveBeauty Great Barrier Relief Serum

A good serum can make such a difference to the skin! When I think about it, going back through all the skincare I've used up over the years, the one thing that I tend to finish the most often, and the one category of products that steers my skincare journey the most would truly have to be my serum collection. As such, I do love trying new serum products to see where it takes my skin. That, and they usually come in 30 ml to 45 ml bottles, which means that it's often something that I can finish without too much effort, while also having enough time to see how it works on my skin.

I heard about KraveBeauty quite a while ago, but I didn't get the chance to try anything from them until now. KraveBeauty's selling point is that it's a skincare line born from the frustrations of being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of products available and new fads and trends cropping up all the time, and it's a way of keeping things simple, by having a skincare range that's aimed at helping the skin reset back to being stable and clear. Ironically, despite pushing back against skincare trends, it is part of it, given that I've seen an emergence in the number of products designed to work at strengthening the skin barrier and working with what you have, versus trying to be a life changing skincare range that's meant to really elevated your skin.

I was tickled by the name, Great Barrier Relief, and wanted to try the serum based on that alone. It's also arguably one of their better known products, and I felt like that would be representative of the brand on the whole. It's great to see that this is cruelty free, vegan, as well as being fragrance and essential oil free. This is actually meant to be a bit of a multitasker, in that it can be used as a serum, a moisturiser or even as an acne treatment to help reduce the appearance of a blemish, which kind of explains why it's such a large bottle of serum, coming in at 45 ml for the smaller bottle, or a whooping 100 ml for the larger bottle.

Essentially, it's a great lazy girl, or busy girl, product, in that it can tick a lot of boxes for those who can't, or don't want to, afford the time to do a multi-step routine. The Great Barrier Relief Serum comes packed with Tamanu Oil, which is known to help keep the skin clear, while smoothing the texture of the skin. The formula also has Safflower and Rosehip oils, which are meant to reduce the appearance of redness and inflammation, soothing and nourishing the skin. Last but not least, Niacinamide is included to help prevent breakouts, strengthen the skin barrier, and reduce the look of dark spots, so that you can achieve your glowy skin goals.

This comes in an airless pump that can be recycled, and I love that while it's fragrance free, there is a mild floral scent that I can pick up whenever I use this. Rather than being watery like a lot of other serums, I find this to have a surprisingly creamy consistency, while still being easily absorbed. I love how comfortable this is on my skin, and how this seems to help maintain my skin at it's best baseline. I don't think it's made a major difference to my hyperpigmentation, but I do feel like it's helped in keeping my skin clear. It's great for days when I'm wanting to keep my skincare simple, serving as something that I can marinate in. It's not cost prohibitive, sitting at about $56 for the 45 ml bottle, and you can find it at various online retailers. What have you tried from KraveBeauty?
