Review: Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil
Even as the country is heating up, coming into Summer, I still find the best way for my skin to stay moisturised is to use body oil. The biggest, and only issue, with this, is that there aren't that many body oils out there that I haven't had the chance to try, so if you guys hear of any, please feel free to direct me to them! Thankfully, there are little trickles of new body oils from time to time, and my most recent discovery, the Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil, has been filling the gap very nicely!
Available currently at Mecca for $139 for 280 ml of product, I was intrigued when first saw this online. This is a seaweed-infused body oil, where hand-harvested Undaria Algae gets soaked in barrels of oils in order to infuse it with vitamins and minerals. Given how this oil is crafted, it does result in a variation in colour, so even though the bottle I received this time turned out yellow, others may receive oil that might look more green or orange.
This is meant to be fragrance free, but they do say that it might have a hint of seaweed scent. To me, it smells a little citrusy, but not lemony fresh, if that makes sense. It's also not uncommon for a bit of naturally occurring seaweed sediment to be found at the bottom of the bottle. I haven't found that to be the case for me, but it's a good heads up. The hero ingredient, Undaria Algae, is said to help replenish the skin's moisture barrier, and it can help the skin look healthy.
There's also white lupin, which can help improve skin elasticity, while also contouring and firming the skin. Additionally, there is a botanical oil blend, which is made up of a mix of passion fruit, acai, babassu and rice bran oils, to help provide deep moisture in order to replenish dry skin. All of that is put into a frosted glass pump bottle, making it easy to get the oil out without creating a mess.
This body oil is chock full of antioxidant-rich goodness and I love that this is easy to to spread over the skin without making it feel overly greasy or sticky. I like that, depending on how much I use, I can either make it more like a dry oil, or when I'm in need of extra nourishment, I can really pour it on so that I can slip and slide a little bit. I'm about 1/3 of the bottle down, and I'm loving how smooth my skin is feeling with this. It's particularly great for right after a day in the sun. It's a gorgeous body oil, and you can find it over here.
