Review: Macrene Actives High Performance Neck and Decolletage Treatment

As I get older, I feel like there are more areas I have to focus on when it comes to looking after myself. That covers a lot of things, like my general health and having to eat more vegetables - I'm still not a fan, as someone who likes to think of herself as an obligate carnivore, but I do recognise that it is a necessary evil! I also have to look after certain areas of my skin that I never used to have to worry about, and that includes the decolletage region.

A while back, I received the Macrene Actives High Performance Neck and Decolletage Treatment in a  kit that I bought, and I was curious to see how it'd perform. This is touted as an all in one anti-aging neck treatment that's supposed to reverse sun damage, firm and plump skin by targeting elasticity and helping to even skin tone around the neck decolletage. Essentially, this is supposed to help one of the most visually obvious areas of aging look youthful.

It is packed with potent anti-aging actives, and quite frankly, very impressive! Let's start with something easy, then move on to the more advanced ingredients! There is Vitamin C and Vitamin E, as well as coffee seed extract and red algae to help illuminate the skin, while emollients like olive oil derivatives, glycerin, jojoba esters and sunflower oil derivatives are there to moisturise the skin. It contains green tea extract and pomegranate extract to fight free radicals, as well as feverfew, yerba mate, cocoa seed extracts and bisabolol for their anti-inflammatory properties.

There's watermelon extract, microalgae and mushroom extracts to help restore the skin, hyaluronic acids, peptides and proline to improve the appearance of wrinkles, as well as resveratrol, glucosamine, histidine and alanine to protect the skin. Additionally, the inclusion of plant cholesterol can help with barrier repair, while arginine, animo acids and ergothioneine is meant to reduce the look of brown spots. Last but not least, there are also firming agents in the form of palmitoyl hydroxproline peptides.

Designed to work as both a neck and decolletage treatment, as well as a face serum, this can be used twice daily, or more, if you're looking for a top up. It comes in a glass bottle with a silver cap that's easy to pull off. This doesn't have an obvious scent, and to use this, all you need to do is place a small dollop into the palm of your hand before massaging it into the skin in rotational strokes. I don't think I can quite justify the price tag, considering how it's a pleasant, but not particularly life changing product. I like that it's keeping my skin feeling soft, but otherwise, it's not a product I can't live without. This is vegan, cruelty free and retails for a very hefty $315 USD for 100ml over here. Do you use a particular product on your neck and decolletage?
