Review: Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream
I don't think I'll ever truly feel my age, and to me, that sounds like a good thing. Thanks to my genes, I also think that I'll continue to coast for a while, and may hopefully continue to look a bit younger than I actually am. I also have to credit a good skincare routine, made up on excellent products, because, let's face it, we can't do it on our own! There is a new eye cream that I'd like to do a shout out for today, because they've been really helpful for keeping my skin looking and feeling fresh, and that's the Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream!
This little powerhouse in a tube marketed as a good all-rounder - reduces the appearance of wrinkles, puffiness, dark eye circles and wrinkles around the lips, just as an added bonus. It comes in an aubergine coloured tube, and once you've removed the cap, you'd find a metal applicator. However, unlike most products with a slanted applicator, this doesn't have an opening in the middle of the applicator itself. Instead, there is a small opening at the very tip of the applicator, where once you've managed to squeeze out some of the product, you can use the applicator to spread it evenly over the skin.
Given that this is made of metal, the applicator has a great cooling effect on the skin, helping to reduce puffiness that way. This also contains some gorgeous ingredients to help the skin around the eyes look firmer, including micro hyaluronic acid, which is meant to draw moisture into the skin and hydrate it, so that it looks visibly plump. Additionally, the Caudalie Longevitiy Patent, which is meant to stimulate longevity proteins in the skin, Sirtuins, to increase the skin's production of collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin. In turn, it's meant to focus on the signs of ageing and combating wrinkles, dark spots and volume.
On top of that, this also has natural pearlizers, which are supposed to help brighten the eye area, while also reducing the puffiness of the region, so that you can have smooth, refreshed skin. I think the design of this packaging is very clever - the small opening is positioned so that the eye cream oozes onto the applicator, making it easy to spread over the skin. It takes me a few minutes to work into my skin, and the eye cream, which is a pale beige, ends up getting blended in quite nicely.
This is incredibly rich, and I love that it doesn't react with any other products, making the layering of products a breeze. This tube contains 15ml and retails for a whooping $118 at Sephora. The real question is - is it worth it? Yes and no. I love that this does seem to actually help with adding to the luminosity of my skin, and keep the fine lines at a minimum, but I also feel like it doesn't make enough of a difference to justify the price tag. That said, if you're new to Caudalie, and after a decent eye cream, this should be up for consideration. Have you tried anything from Caudalie recently?
