Review: Nuxe Very Rose Plumping Lip Serum
Our scent memory is certainly one of the strongest things that we have that when triggered by a familiar fragrance, sometimes long forgotten thoughts spring back into our minds, fresh as the day they were created. In the early years of blogging, I was introduced to a French brand that'd just reached our shores, and I remember so many of us getting excited about trying out a slice of European goodness in our little corner of the world. I recently unearthed a little bottle of the oil, and fell in love with it all over again, which I suspect to be the event that led to me purchasing the Nuxe Very Rose Plumping Lip Serum when I saw it in store at Sephora - it was the tugging at my heartstrings (and purse strings!) linked to the nostalgia of the early days of being in the biz!
This caught my eye when I was in line waiting to pay at Sephora recently, which then prompted me to go home and do a little bit of reading into it to see if it was something that would work well as a new addition to my makeup caddy. Just kidding - I pretty much went home and waited for the next deal to go online before purchasing it! I mean, this comes with a dusty pink rose symbol attached to the cap of the lip serum - that was enough to sway me, I'm a sucker for good packaging!
Attached to the rose cap is a lip wand with a doe foot applicator that does a good job of getting out a bit of serum each time. This is said to contain 98% ingredients of natural origin, and meant to be infused with natural hyaluronic acid, so that you can have instant hydration with a subtle plumping effects that's meant to last up to 24 hours. Imagine having plump, soft lips that will continue to stay moisturised for a while - who wouldn't want that?
This gets it's hot/cold tingle from chilli and menthol extracts, so that it can add a bit of volume without the assistance of big chemicals. The lip serum comes as a silky smooth texture that glides right over the lips, leaving the lips with a thin layer of gloss that both tastes and smells like gorgeous vanilla. I quite like it, because it's not very sweet, but it's also not particularly synthetic. Instead, it feels very balanced. This also adds a bit of shine to the lips, but if you're after mega shine, this isn't it.
This has a vegan formula, and I love that this has a non-sticky finish. This lippie isn't particularly cheap, coming in at $48 at Sephora, but it is really easy to love and it doesn't cause my lips to feel unpleasantly tingly - rather, it's more subtle and I like wearing this beneath my lip colours. You can find it over here at Sephora. It's a beautiful lip serum that I can see myself finishing. Is this something that you'd use?
