Review: Biotyspa Firming Body Oil

I'm not going to lie - I know I'm a sucker for certain things, and one of those things is a good body oil. Another thing is a Sephora sale, and boy do those come around regularly! My bank account is certainly suffering the effects of them! Upside, I guess I get to stay a Gold Sephora member for another year! At least Sephora carries a wonderful range of body oil, which brings me to my latest Sephora purchase, the Biotyspa Firming Body Oil!

Who is Biotyspa, and why should you consider them the next time you're on the market for a body oil? Created by Deborah Levy back when COVID hit, so that clients of their spa could still connect with them, this has now expanded to a whole range of body care products, as well as a face oil and teas. All the products are made in Australia, and they are also cruelty free! The Biotyspa Firming Body Oil is meant to help deliver firmer skin, encourage lipolysis and restore softness and elasticity to the skin.

This oil is suitable for all skin types, but particularly targeted to those  with dry, mature skin, as well as babes with stretch marks and scars. Essentially, it's really for whoever wants to keep their skin feeling moisturised, smooth and soft. The formula is made up of a blend of organic and precious oils, and it's also vegan. The hero ingredient in this is coffee extract, which is chock full of antioxidants and caffeine, and meant to help improve blood circulation. It's also supposed to aid in tightening the skin, reducing the appearance of cellulite, while protecting the skin from free radicals and preventing skin damage.

Juniper is added in for helping to detoxify the skin, flushing out the excess fluid from the body, so that it can reduce water retention, giving the skin a firmer and more toned appearance. The oil also contains argan, which is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamin E and antioxidants, making it an ideal ingredient for moisturising, nourishing and protecting the skin. Argan is also present to help improve skin elasticity and softness, as well as reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars. Last but not least, there's also grapefruit, which is steeped in antioxidants and vitamins, such as Vitamin C, and it's meant to encourage collagen production and improve skin elasticity. Grapefruit is also supposed to lend antibacterial properties to help cleanse the skin and reduce the possibility of breakouts.

I bought myself the 100ml bottle, as I wasn't sure how I'd feel about committing to a 400ml bottle, and it's been a great introduction to the brand! This comes in long cylindrical bottle with a small opening at the top that has a little stopper, in addition to the screw cap, to prevent it from leaking - a tiny detail, but one that works well! I love that this has a soft citrus scent, and it's a relatively oily oil, which has been great for the skin on my elbows particularly. It takes a while for this to get absorbed, though, but I really like how soft my skin feels with it on. It currently retails for $59 for 100ml, and $129 for 400ml over here. Have you heard of Biotyspa?
