Review: Lanolips Hyaluronic Lip Oil Raspberry
The best indicator for how dry the air is isn't my washing at this time of the year. It certainly is in the Summer, for me, but at this point, when we're having single digit celsius days, it's more about how my skin feels, and specifically, how dry and flaky my lips become within a short period of time. If you ask me, it's really at this time of the year that my lip oils work overtime to prove their worth, and I thought that this would be the perfect time of year to try out my new $19 buy from Adore Beauty.
If you're not familiar with Lanolips, my condolences for all the time you've managed to waste without acquainting yourself with the brand. I can only assume that you haven't had time to get to know this iconic Australian brand, or that you might have lived a life without, I don't know, the internet, but that's all going to change! Welcome to the world of Lanolips - they are ready to receive you! The Lanolips Hyaluronic Lip Oil combines two juicy ingredients, lanolin and hyaluronic acid, into one product, designed to nourish and hydrate, while staying cruelty free.
The Hyaluronic Lip Oil Raspberry helps to give the lips a light, fruity pink tint, giving it a bit of a filtered flush look, eliminating the appearance of fine lines on the lips, so that your lips can seem smoother. It is meant to be a balm/gloss hybrid, protecting and conditoning the lips, bringing them back to life in just one swipe. This comes in a clear tube with Lanolips printed all over it, showcasing it's pink tint, and a wide, fat doe foot applicator built into the cap.
I will say that I came into this with high hopes. having previously loved Lanolips products, but it has fallen a little short of those expectations. It's meant to give the lips a high shine and be ultra glossy, but sadly, this doesn't leave my lips looking as juicy as I'd like for them to. Sure, there's a shine to it, but it's not a high gloss situation. It's definitely light weight, and while it's not sticky, it's also not as silky as some other brands I've used in the past. I will say that this certainly does moisturise the lips really nicely, leaving them feeling conditioned and hydrated, with a hint of colour.
Rather than use this on it's own, my favourite way to wear it is over a lip tint, so that it can really help it pop, enhancing the colour, while keeping my lips protected. I'm also obsessed with the wand applicator - this is big, soft and spongey, and spreads the lip oil evenly. I find that this does help keep my lips feeling moisturised for longer, and while the shine isn't quite as megawatt as I'd prefer, it is a great lip oil for keeping my lips crack-free. Is this something that you'd try?
