Review: Dr. G Red Blemish Clear Moisture Cream and Soothing Cream
Aside from the weather, do you know what I find to be most detrimental to my skin this time of year? It has to be the heating system that some of us have, and by that, I mean central heating, where there's warm, dry air at all times, and while I feel warm and cosy, without having to layer up too much, it's also means that my skin will have to pay for the comfort a little bit, by being potentially a little scaly, rough and overall, dry. So, it's of no surprise that I'm constantly looking for something that might help my skin stay moisturised, and prevent it from feeling tight/itchy.
I've been trying out goodies from the K-beauty brand, Dr. G, and this time, I've been using both the Red Blemish Clear Moisture Cream and the Red Blemish Clear Soothing Cream, and it's been fabulous! If you're curious about my previous experience with Dr. G, you can click on this link to read all about it! While they sound like they'd be similar, I've been using them both interchangeably and also for slightly different purposes, and as always when it comes to skincare and makeup, there aren't really any rules, as long as they work for you!
Let's start with the Clear Moisture Cream! This has been a twice daily staple, and it's marketed as a soothing and hydrating cream that's meant to calm irritated skin. Made with their 5-Cica Complex, which is comprised of madecassoside, madecassic acid, asiaticoside, asiatic acid and centella asiatica extract, put together to help hydrate sensitive skin. This has a gel texture that's a little bouncy, and designed to be absorbed quickly by the skin, so that you can have moisturised skin without it feeling sticky and tacky. I love that this doesn't react with any other products, and that my skin has reacted positively to it, feeling moistured and smooth, rather than tight and uncomfortable this time of year.
The Clear Soothing Cream is something that can be used daily, but I probably lean more towards reaching for it when my skin is in need of a bit of TLC. Formulated with 10-Cica Complex, which is made up of ingredients such as centella asiatica extract, niacinamide, green tea extract and tea tree oil, it helps to reduce inflammation, promote wound healing, while controlling oil production, as well as moisturising the skin. It's what I go for more when I can feel a slightly itchy, inflamed patch of skin (read: eczema) trying to crop up, and I will also occasionally layer this over the Moisture Cream for a second layer of protection.
If you're after the Clear Moisture Cream, you can find out more about it over here. If it's the Clear Soothing Cream that floats your boat, then you can get more information about it over here. Created for acne prone skin to help soothe skin and deal with blemishes, these are pretty great for other skin types too, including mine, which is dry/normal. They both come in a jar with a screw lid, containing 70 ml of product. Included in the packaging is a spatula, so for those who'd prefer an instrument to help scoop it out, rather than just dipping their fingers in, this is a happy compromise. The best part is that these won't break the bank either, sitting at around $35 per jar. Which would you go for?
