Review: Hair by Sam McKnight Love Me Do Nourishing Oil
Happy Sunday! And it's a sun-day indeed! I'm absolutely loving the amount of sunshine that we're getting her in Sydney at the moment, which is a welcome vibe after all the rain we were getting for a while. The humidity has been insane! Thankfully, with the rain easing off, it means I haven't had to worry about the colour in my hair running, because I'm back to having purple strands, or having to deal with the frizz in my hair escalating. I've also been using something I got in my beauty advent calendar last year, and it's been a rather nice addition to my rotation of haircare products.
I've previously dabbled in some Hair by Sam McKnight goodies, and this time, I got to try out their Love Me Do Nourishing Oil. This is said to be cruelty free, vegan, soothing, anti-frizz and restoring. It is meant to add shine and weightless hydration to the hair, and as well as act as a styling oil. This has three natural shine enhancers that are meant to nourish, tame frizz and leave the hair looking shiny. Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, which is high in Vitamins A and E, is supposed to nourish dry or brittle hair, while also adding elasticity, and preventing future damage and smoothing frizz.
The Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil can help restore your hair to it's former glory, penetrating the hair to moisturise and replenish them, rejuvenating dry cuticles. There's also Sunflower Seed Oil, which can condition and nourish the hair, while also helping keep it soft. Last but not least, there's also Activoil Kerox Pro, which is a blend of Rosemary, Magnolia Bark and Radish, and is meant to help maintain colour and radiance and provide protection against anti-oxidants, while also preventing UV damage.
This all comes packaged in a yellow opaque bottle with a screw cap, which makes travelling with this a breeze. I was surprised the first time I used this, as I wasn't prepared for this to be quite so runny and watery. I began using this as a post wash leave in treatment, and while I thought it did a decent job, I didn't think it left my hair feeling as soft, or looking as shiny, as I wanted it to be. However, I realised after a couple of weeks of using this that it could actually be applied to dry hair. I love that this is oil is relatively versatile, and can be used in a couple of different ways, because of it's lightweight texture.
I love this more on dry hair, either after styling, when I've used my blow dry brush, for a bit of shine and TLC to hair that I've just been abusing and drying out, and to deal with flyaways and frizz, or simply for a bit of extra nourishment before leaving the house, which makes my hair look a little more put together. I find that this doesn't weigh my hair down, nor does it leave the strands greasy. Rather, it just looks a little more presentable. This is currently stocked at Mecca for $72 for 50 ml of product, and if you're after something that you can tap into the palm of your hand, then smooth over your tresses for a quick once over before leaving work or your house, then this would be worth investigating. Do you think this would be a good fit for you?
