Review: Dermaveen Gentle Exfoliating Scrub

Happy Sunday! As much as I love my job, where I get to see some of the cutest cats you'll ever meet, and it's rewarding in so many ways, it can be extremely wearing and exhausting, and there are times when I need a hard reset. There is nothing better for it than being around people who fill my cup, and my life with laughter, and this weekend, I got to do just that by hanging out with one of my besties, going away to Canberra to meet her pupper (that I matched her up with!), running off to Brisbane for a weekend of girly fun at the spa, cabaret show, and gin making class, and generally just being happy for a few days. Don't forget to look up my adventures on Instagram, if you want to see where I went!

Of course, being given the chance to hop on a plane and run off to these little weekend jaunts is what keeps me sane, and I'm so grateful for them, but it does mean that my skin ends up taking a bit of a battering. Having a good face scrub really does make a big difference to my routine, and the good thing about face scrubs is that they don't have to be pricey, and I've been using one that I've been keen on, and that's the DermaVeen Face Gentle Exfoliating Scrub. This is a microbead free gentle scrub that's meant to be appropriate for sensitive and dry skin.

It uses rice powder to help exfoliate the skin, so that you can be left with healthy, fresh skin, and it also has hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin, as well as pro Vitamin B5, which is supposed to protect the skin barrier, thus retaining moisture levels. There's also beta glucan, which is an antioxidant, which can fend off free radicals, and smooth the skin. Additionally, there is colloidal oatmeal, which is great for hydrating, protecting and renewing skin, as well as reducing irritation and inflammation.

This comes in a white tube with green and silver accents, and it has a flip lid, which makes it easy to get the product out. It's a white, creamy scrub with a medium consistency, and I use about a 20 cent piece size every time I reach for it, which is enough to cover my face and neck. This is easy to spread over the skin, and I love that it has very small, gritty bits that are well distributed throughout the cleanser. This doesn't feel like it's harsh on the skin. Rather, it's a surprisingly gentle cleanser that makes my face feel a little fresher, without drying it out.

At just $15.99 for 125ml, this is totally affordable, and will last you for quite a while. It can be found at Chemist Warehouse, and if you're lucky, you can find it on sale, which makes it even more worth it! While Dermaveen may be known for their body products, this is a face product that's worth trying out, and for those who worry about scratchy physical exfoliants, this is definitely not one of them. What was your last Dermaveen purchase?
