Review: Kristin Ess Strand Strengthening Reconstructive Moisture Mask
As we get older, I've come to the realisation that we can't have it all, but we can certainly try to juggle as much as possible, so that we can squeeze as much as we possibly can out of life! This simply means that we sometimes have to let things slide a little, while we're working hard on other areas of life, and we have to cut ourselves some slack when things don't go according to plan. For example, as much as I've been trying to work on my social life, heading to shows with friends and experiencing all the good things that Sydney has to offer, I've somehow managed to forget to look after my hair as much as I normally would, resulting in my already damaged tresses (thanks to my enthusiastic bleaching and colouring efforts) being frizzy and dry.
Thankfully, for every beauty issue, there is always a fix, or rather, a world of fixes, right around the corner, and I recently purchased the Kristin Ess Strand Strengthening Reconstructive Moisture Mask to help combat just this issue! I was drawn to this hair mask in particular as it's meant to help battle dry hair, as well as add shine to the hair, while softening it. That, and I've previously had some success with Kristin Ess products, and I was hoping that the brand would work it's magic once again!
This comes in a peachy pink jar with a screw top that reveals a creamy, thick hair mask nestled tightly in it. I find a generous scoop of this a sufficient amount to cover my hair from the middle of it, down to the end. I always keep a claw clip clamped around my shower caddy to help keep my hair out of my face, and the shower range, while it marinates in whatever I have going at that time. Doing so means that I can let my hair soak it all in for the required minimum of 5 minutes, while working on other things in the shower, such as doing a full body scrub, or shaving my legs.
I like that this is thick, but not so thick that it's hard to work into the hair, and that it actually has quite a lovely scent. This has notes of magnolia and sandalwood, which are the easiest to pick out, as well as ambrette seed, pear water, night violet, orris butter and white amber. I find my hair to be softer after using this, and when that's not enough and I'm after a more intense treatment, I smother my hair in it before bundling it into a shower cap for at least 30 minutes. It's said that you can use it in that manner for up to an hour, and while this takes more effort, it's definitely worth it!
Given that the ingredients include coconut oil, shea butter and chia seed oil, it's not surprising that my hair looks and feels healthier with it's use! This mask is said to be for all hair types and the container makes it easy to get every last drop out of it! This is a easy one to love, and for the very affordable price of $19.99, it's also an accessible one! It's currently available at various retailers, including Chemist Warehouse, and if you're after more information on the mask, you can head over here. What are your hair goals this year?
