Review: REN Clean Skincare AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum

With all the new technology and interesting products that are coming out, the one category I haven't quite delved into as much is body skincare. That all changed recently when I bought the REN Clean Skincare AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum. What exactly is this, and what are the applications (sorry, I had to go for that pun) for this body care product?

If you're after something that will help exfoliate, brighten and smooth the skin, then you might want to add this to your shopping list for the next time you're browsing online! As someone who quite likes the effects of alpha hydroxy acids on my face, I thought this would be something fun to try on the body. This is meant to help hydrate the skin while also assist in boosting the skin's own exfoliating process. It also has the added benefit of improving the skin's barrier. helping leave the skin looking healthy and luminous.

The key ingredients are Lactic Acid as the AHA to gently break down the bonds that hold down dull and dead skin cells, as well as Xylitol to help move water molecules to the surface for better hydrated skin. This comes in a large tube with a flip lid, which is easy to store on my dresser, This has a slightly sweet, mild citrus scent to it that's quite pleasant, and the serum itself has a moderately viscous consistency.

The serum is a pale yellow, and it spreads very nicely over the skin and dries down mostly well, leaving  behind the odd patch of slightly tacky skin where I haven't thinned it out as much. Overall, though, it mostly gets absorbed. I find this to react well with my skin - there is a certain smoothness to it that I feel this might have contributed to, particularly on my right shin, which is often scaly, considering that I have years of pole dancing to thank for that.

While I have no experience with keratosis pilaris, I wonder if this would the the type of product that would help with the condition? I have read that there are some products that contain lactic acid that can be used for that, so this may be something that could help target areas of concern. This retails for $59 for 200ml of product, and thankfully, this is available now at Mecca, which means it's easily accessible! This is also cruelty free, which is pretty awesome! What have you tried from Ren?
