Review: MUD Makeup *

MUD makeup has been kicking around for a while (see previous posts here and here) and I tend to think of this particular brand as one that is not only affordable, but also a brand that works amazingly well when it comes to some products! Their gel liner remains one of my favourites, and I recommend that to plenty of people!
I had the luck to be sent some of their products recently, and I'll be running through my thoughts on these goodies, and how they worked on me!

The eyebrow pencil, which I received in Brunette, has a little brush on the cap to help blend it out and look a little more natural. It goes on nicely, but does fade a little bit. It doesn't, however, run when it gets rainy, which is amazing, because some of the cheaper brands I've tried have been a little scary! This isn't going to replace the ones that I have as my brow staples, but it works well enough for me just as a quick patch and go. This retails for $6.

I've been loving the Skin Perfecting Primer, which comes in a glass bottle that contains 30 ml of thick, yet light, white lotion. I like how easy it is to pump out of the bottle, and it does smooth over little imperfections easily so that I can build my base over it. For only $10, this bottle has so far lasted me about 10 weeks.

The lipliner is another bargain at $6. This does a good job of lining the lips, making it easier to slick on lipstick. Sadly, this only comes in 3 shades. Additionally, the flimsy plastic cap makes it a little tricky to put it in my daily makeup bag, because I worry that the top would come off.

The MUD nail polish in Au Naturale is a lovely shade of nude - easy to wear and it doesn't take forever to dry down. This is only $3, but the real bummer is that there are only 7 shades in the whole range. This comes in a comfortable, round container.

The real winner from this particular set would have to be the lipsticks! I was sent Barely Blushing and Cocoa Berry. Barely Blushing is a lovely pink shade and has a metallic finish, which means quite a bit of shine, while Cocoa Berry is a dark, vampish shade of red. Cocoa Berry stains the lips immensely well, while feeling like it is quite moisturising. While the plastic cap feels slightly cheap, it does have a reassuring click, and honestly, that's all that I need!

I find the different finishes to be a little confusing, as it doesn't seem to state it anywhere on the packaging, but hey, it's $5! There are 8 colours in the range, and it's so affordable, you'll be wanting every single shade!

Aside from going to Woolworths, which makes it super easy for you to sneak something into your shopping cart while the other half is busy buying something boring like, I don't know, vegetables, you can also get MUD products online through Woolworths here.

This brand absolutely surprises me regularly to the point that I wonder why I'm still surprised! There are so many other goodies from the brand, and I'm dying to check out their eyeshadows - I mean, have to seen them? If you haven't, make it your mission to check the brand out in Woolworths soon!

Have you tried anything from MUD previously? What would you like to try?

  1. I've never thought to try out this brand as it's so cheap I just assumed it wouldn't be good quality but it sounds like there's a couple of winners there. Great post.
