Bourjois Cosmetics - An Introduction *

Bonjour! With that as my opening gambit, I'm guessing you know what country the makeup I'm discussing started in! Bourjois is a brand that's been kicking around for quite a while. In fact, I remember my sister having one of their little round eyeshadow pots, which she passed to me when I had lusted over it sufficiently and she was sick of me mooning around her makeup collection.

Fast forward a decade or so, and Bourjois got pushed to a corner of my mind while I got very busy trying all of the other new and exciting thing out there. However, I was recently reminded of my love for Bourjois and I thought I'd share that on my blog, and spread the love for this brand!

Let's start off with one of my favourite bits from the range. Their felt tip eyeliner is a bit of a staple for me now! This baby wings easily, and this is really quite black, which is what I love, love, love about it. Additionally, this dries down fast enough so that I don't end up smudging everywhere when I open my lids. This goes on smoothly, and doesn't smudge on my lids, making it one that I've been reaching for on a very regular basis. This is $24.

Their Perfect CC Eye Cream combines both an eye cream and a concealer in one, This claims to hydrate for 24 hours while camouflaging dark circles and reducing under eye puffiness. This comes in a twisty pen that allows a little bit of concealer to come up each time, but doesn't do much in terms of application, sadly. I do like that it does a decent job of concealing the dark eye circles without creasing, which makes it seem like it is hydrating. This retails for $22.

The Healthy Mix Foundation promises to give you a healthy glow and flawless complexion for up to 16 hours, This comes in a transparent glass bottle with a pump, making it very hygienic to get it out, so you don't have to introduce bacteria into the foundation. This gives me medium coverage with a satin finish (not too matte, not too dewy, kind of skin like), and this is also stuffed with fruit, like melon, apricot and apple, all to aid with hydration and radiance. I like the finish I get with it, and it holds relatively well on my skin throughout the day.

I love the Volume Glamour Effet Push Up Mascara in Black! This volumizes the lashes, giving it a bit more of a fan-like effect, but this creates a fair bit of panda smudging, and this makes it unsuitable for me to wear it throughout the day. However, I've been going over it with my Anastasia waterproofing mascara stuff, and it's actually dampening it down a bit, and at the very least, I use this mascara for when I'll only be out for short periods of time. It's a toughie when you love the effect, but not the side effect!

I received their Little Round Pot Eyeshadow in Brun De Folie, which is a very sparkly silver! This is one that can be applied both wet (for increased intensity) and dry, which makes it quite easy to blend. I feel like this particularly formula is similar to what it was back in my youth, and the sparkles are intense! This can almost give a bit of a wet look to the lids, if that makes sense. It might be more obvious once you see the look that I created using this range. These go for $14 each.

Their blushes are to die for! With the subtle scent of roses, this blush goes on smoothly, and is velvety and it adds a very pretty glow to my skin. I have this in Lilas d'Or, which is a dark rose pink, and this is only $20, and it is very easy to build up. I highly recommend this blush, and it's so worth the money!

I've left the very best for last to discuss - the Rouge Edition Velvet! This matte lippie has me crying for more (crying because I'm super broke right now, and I HAVE to have them all!), because it is absolutely gorgeous! I have this in 02, and it is a diluted pinkish red, and that texture is just exquisite! This smooths on nicely, doesn't dry out the lips and dries down matte. It stains (and in fact, I've used it as a base instead of the sole lip colour) and it holds. I cannot believe that it took me this long to find this, because this is stunning, and it was in Priceline all this time! For $24, it's actually really affordable.

I'm really sorry about the lighting situation in the pictures, but I hope it gives you an idea of what the products look like! I used the foundation, concealer, mascara (and falsies), eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush and lippie to create this look.

That lippie is undoubtedly my absolute favourite of the bunch, but they are all very wearable products.

Have you tried Bourjois products previously? What's your favourite from the range?
