Review: Organic Island Sun Kissed Lips
Isn't Spring grand? As much as I love this weather, though, there is one thing that I like more than being in Sydney as the weather turns warm and gorgeous, and that is taking off into the skies to go on holidays in a different state/country! As you read this, it will be the day after my brother's wedding, and I'll still be in warm, tropical Singapore, two days away from a ferry ride to Bintan, which is an Indonesian island that's just about one hour away from the little garden/state I grew up in.
And what better time to talk about Organic Island and their Sun Kissed Lips than right now, when I'm headed to another island, after spending time on one? I'd forgotten that I previously featured this brand a very long time ago in blog-time, and I'm really glad I'm able to welcome Organic Island back to the blog, this time with their Sun Kissed Lips! If you find that the weather has been doing a real number on your lips, then stick around, because I've got some things to say about this lippie!
I received this in a recent goodie bag that I got for attending a ticketed Marie Claire event, and I'm not going to lie - aside from being enticed by the line up of speakers and topics, the one other thing I also look forward to to a goodie bag, because who doesn't like receiving something just for turning up? And I'm so glad I went, because I received this totally unexpected, but very much holy grail lippie! I know, I just said holy grail! Designed to smooth, plump and protect lips, this is suitable for all skin types.
Made from organic ingredients, this is vegan and cruelty free. There are three main ingredients, including avocado oil, which is meant to be moisturise, soften and hydrate the skin, while also soothe it, being rich in essential fatty acids. It's also meant to help prevent moisture loss and dehydration, keeping your lips moisturised for longer. There's also pomegranate, which is full of plant polyphenols, and supposed to help detox and repair the skin, as well as enhance cell turnover, so that you can have fresh, soft skin. Additionally, this also has jojoba in it, which is an emollient that helps the skin barrier, and can encourage skin cell regeneration, so that your skin can stay smoother and softer. This also has other goodies like sandalwood oil and papaya seed oil, so you know that this will be moisturising!
All of this gets packed into a long tube with a metal doe foot applicator that has a little hole in the middle of it to get the product out. When you squeeze the tube, it comes out as a rosy pink balm that feels incredibly light on my lips! This isn't sticky at all, but it also doesn't give the lips much of a shine. Rather, this actually soothes my lips, making them soft and preventing them from chapping further. I like that this is more of daily wear balm with a hint of colour that enhances my lips than a lipstick. This retails for $27 and you can find it over here. It was love at first swipe, and I would get another one after this runs out! Have you tried anything from Organic Island?
