Review: Clinique Sun-Kissed Face Gelee Complexion Multitasker

Are you feeling the heat yet? Welcome to the middle of Spring right here in Australia! You know we love a good dry heat, and man, is it shaping up to be a hot one! While you're out and about, make sure you're doing what every sun safe Australian knows to do - slip, slap and slop it on, and stay out of direct sunlight! Sun damage is no joke, and aside from it being immediately uncomfortable and painful, as well as unsightly (which, truly, isn't the worse part of it at all), the long term effects of it can be downright deadly.

One can say that it's no longer in vogue to bake in the sun (thank goodness!), but if you're like me, and prefer looking a little tanned, there are safer, and better ways, of getting that bronzed look than sitting outside. Enter Clinique's Sun-Kissed Face Gelee Complexion Multitasker! This is a lightweight oil-free gel that's designed to give your skin that sunkissed radiance without the harmful changes that can occur with being outside, and it's appropriate for all skin types and tones.

Touted as an immediate pick-me-up for the skin, I'd initially thought that this was meant to be like a liquid highlighter, something that I could slather all over the skin as my base product to give it a luminous glow, which was what prompted me to pick it up in the first place. This comes in a glossy bronze tube with a shiny silver screw lid, and I was surprised when I squeezed it, and a small dollop of dark brown gel came out of it.

When applied directly to the skin, this gives it an instantly bronzed hue, which is a little too much for my Winter pale skin, but enhances the tone that I naturally get from incidental sun, even with sunscreen on, and an 11 hour day in clinic. It is best worn, however, mixed into another product, and that could be either your foundation, or primer, or moisturiser. I find that by doing it this way, it actually makes it look much more natural, and less overwhelming, and it's my favourite way to wear it.

Make sure that when you're applying this, you're doing so quickly, without dawdling, as this does dry down quite fast, so it's best not to take your time. This retails for $60 and comes as a 30 ml tube, and given that you don't need much for this to be apparent on the skin, I suspect this tube will last me for quite a while. It's available where Clinique can be found, including Myer and Adore Beauty, as well as Mecca. Are you all about the bronzing products this time of year?
