Review: First Aid Beauty After Shower Nourishing Body Oil

Dry skin is something that I don't often suffer from, and that's simply because I tend to moisturise to much and so often! I will say that the one time I'm caught a little off guard is when there is a bit of transitional weather. Is it hot? Is it cold? Why am I both shivering and sweating all at the same time? Welcome to the shift in the temperatures, indicating that Autumn isn't too far behind now. For those who are finding it a bit dry right now, in addition to still having a bit of an oily T-zone, I hope this post will inspire you to start planning for the upcoming cooling of the Southern Hemisphere ahead!

In my bid to keep my skin as soft and pliable as possible, I purchased the First Aid Beauty After Shower Nourishing Body Oil, which appealed to me, because, well, it was new to me, and it's a body oil - that's kind of a no brainer! Seriously though, I thought it would be a fun one to give a whirl, as it's actually marketed as a fast-absorbing, lightweight body oil that's designed to help hydrate the skin, locking moisture into the skin, so that it can be left soft, smooth and silky.

While that sounds like a bare minimum baseline of what you should expect from your body oil, you'd be surprised by the number of body moisturising products that don't quite deliver those expected results with a texture of your liking, so I always like to hold the judgement for when I've actually tried it. This comes in an opaque purple bottle with a great pump that puts out a nice amount of body oil with each push. It is easy to get a little carried away, and this does result in the oil being quite heavy on the skin, rather than lightweight, so just watch your enthusiasm!

It has a bit of a citrusy scent to it, which I quite like, but for those who are concerned that it might be a little strong, this does fade over time. The formula contains seven botanical oils, as well as lipids that are meant to help nourish the skin. This body oil is comprised of orange peel oil, lemon peel oil and tangerine peel oil, which makes sense that it would have such an uplifting fragrance. This also has spearmint leaf oil, sunflower seed oil, olive fruit oil, grape seed oil, jojoba seed oil, apricot kernel oil and babassu oil.

With all that in mind, it's of no surprise that this oil does what the label says it will, with the exception of the texture. I find this to be actually quite rich, and you really have to use it sparingly in order to get it to dry quickly, which is a good thing, in that a bottle of 177 ml should last you for quite a while. My skin is pretty happy with the results - it's smooth, soft and helping to keep the scaly skin at bay. You can find it over here at Sephora for just $60.
