Review: The Powder Shampoo
Do you hear that? That's the sound of peace and quiet, which means that you can't hear anything at all, aside from the quiet hum of the plane's engine - that's the sound of me disappearing into the horizon for my holiday! That's right, my gorgeous babes, I'm up, up and away into the skies, embarking onto my newest adventure, and you can follow right along with me as I hop over to Hong Kong and China! Speaking of travel, I find that international rule about liquids sometimes a little hard to adhere to, particularly when I'm trying cram all of my toiletries into a carry on.
I may have, however, found a delicious loophole that would allow me to do my thing of picking what I feel l need to survive in the wilds of a 4 star hotel, while still staying within the confines of the law, and that's thanks to The Powder Shampoo! I was recently contacted by them to see if I would be interested in trying it out, and my interest was piqued by several things - one, they are a Singapore based brand, and being a Singaporean, this made me feel really proud to see something like this enter such a saturated market, and kick ass. Secondly, I found the premise of this brand exciting, because it's pretty revolutionary.
Let's start by stating the obvious - this is as powder product, as the brand name would suggest. Rather than being a powder dry shampoo, this actually comes as a powder product that foams and froths accordingly, once you mix it with some water. For the eco-conscious, this brand should be on your radar! We're talking water-free, vegan, plastic free, refillable and recyclable - how awesome is that! For the regular traveller, this totally rocks too, because aside from being not a liquid product, this is also mess free in that it won't leave everything sticky if it were to spill - which it shouldn't, as it has as a secure screw cap.
This comes in a full sized bottle, which is meant to last you 100 washes, or these cute little travel bottles, which should allow you to wash your hair about 20 times. I was given the choice of one of three travel kits, and I picked this one, as I thought it would work best with me, given that there's an Invigorating Powder Shampoo, Strengthening Powder Shampoo and Energizing Body Foam Wash, and I liked the scent profile of this range. It's super easy to use - simply unscrew the cap, then tap a small amount of product into wet palms. It foams up quickly and deliciously, and I love that this makes my hair feel cleansed without being overly stripped of oils.
They smell divine, and the Invigorating Shampoo is actually my favourite - it leaves me with a bit of body to the hair still, and I love that it doesn't get frizzy throughout the day. Their range also extends to two body washes, and I'm really hoping that they will continue to develop more! I would love to see conditioners and treatments from the brand as well, and if they were to choose to develop other products, like skincare, I would definitely be keen to give them a try! This particular kit, Trust The Flow, is available for $50 and a great way to try several products, and you can find it over here. Is this something you'd be keen to have in your toiletries kit?
