Review: Maybelline Fit Me! Loose Finishing Powder

Maybelline has been pushing out the boat in terms of getting babes of all colours the right foundation shades, and they have now returned with some excellent finishing powder to help seal the deal! Here are my thoughts on the Maybelline Fit Me! Loose Finishing Powder!

This is a mineral based formula that comes in the form of a loose powder. Here is Australia, there are unfortunately only 4 shades available, which leaves a vast gap between what the foundation shades are, and those of the loose powder.

Fortunately for me, however, I 'Fit' into two different shades very nicely, depending on the time of year. I'm currently sitting at Medium, but I know that I will drop down into Light Medium eventually. Fair and Light are the other shades that are available.

These come in pretty standard packaging - a jar with a screw top, designed to allow the loose powder to come through from the bottom layer, so that you can obtain enough to finish off your look. That said, I'm sure we can all agree that this makes for the occasional mess that we could all do without. However, it is hard to argue with results, and as such, this has fast become the powder I've been reaching for the most, messy or otherwise!

To prevent it from getting too sloppy, particularly when it's early in the morning, I tend to tip this upside down, then back upright, before tapping the lid a couple of times to ensure that the powder settles at the bottom a little better. Then, all you have to do is open the container and presto! You can dip your brush into what's left in the lid, tap off the excess, then pat it in to keep your makeup in place.

The finish is what you'd expect from mineral-based makeup - flawless! The powder is moderately tinted and that adds to the finish without covering up over what you've already done on your face. I really like how smooth the completed look is, and this powder is lightweight and definitely not cakey. Rather, it's silky and it holds up well throughout the day.

Retailing for $19.95, Maybelline goes on sale regularly at different outlets, so make sure that you check the places that stock it, so you can get your hands on it to give it a try!

What's your go to loose powder? Do you have any tips on dealing with the messy nature of such a product?
