Review: Byoma Barrier Repair Eye Cream

I suspect you may start to see a bit of a pattern for all the products that I've been using this time of year! Spring is all about protecting the skin, and forming a better barrier so that I can have less problems with inflammation and irritation, as I can be prone to things like eczema, and around the eyes is actually where it tends to crop up the most. Hence, when I was shopping online recently and spotted the Byoma Barrier Repair Eye Cream, I rally wanted to give it a go to see if it would help stave off the potentially unpleasant side effects of sliding into Spring.

Byoma, as you may remember, has featured on the blog a number of times, and it's not hard to see why - affordable skincare available at Sephora that strives to enhance what you already have, and build upon that, so that it can look and feel better overtime? Heck yes! The Byoma Barrier Repair Eye Cream promises to repair and soothe skin, helping it look rejuvenated, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimising water loss through helping barrier function and encouraging collagen production, all while being vegan and cruelty free!

Like the rest of the range, this comes packaged in a bottle that's a pretty pastel shade. In this case, it's an almost powdery pink, and there is a pull off cap that's quite secure when it's on. The pump works well at getting out a small dollop of white cream each time, and while it does feel rich, this texture makes tapping it into the skin a breeze. I love that it isn't greasy, and doesn't react with any other products that I tend to layer over it. This is both alcohol and fragrance free, and it also contains some lovely ingredients to help you achieve those skin goals.

This contains several things to help the under eye region look it's best, comprised of their barrier lipid complex, copper tripeptides and ectoin, which means it's packed full of humectants and emollients to combat water loss, repair and improve the skin barrier and keep the skin hydrated for longer. While I don't find this to do anything for my dark eye circles (which, at this point, I'm not sure anything can fix), I do like how it makes my skin feel hydrated, but aside from that, I don't feel like this has been a mind blowing product to use.

This retails for a mere $25 for 20 ml, which is bigger than the standard size that we tend to see for eye creams, and pretty good value. Given that I bought this based on wanting to simply strengthen my skin barrier, I can honestly say that I'm not disappointed, but if you're looking to get this to tackle specific issues for the skin around the eyes, like dark eye circles or puffiness, then you might want to rethink that decision. Otherwise, it's a pretty solid eye cream, and of no surprise that I'm getting to the bottom of the bottle! You can find it over here. Would this be something you can see yourself using?
