Review: Australis Emotional Support Tubing Mascara
Makeup has come a long way from when I was younger, and I can only imagine that it's going to get better and better! It's solved a few of the long term issues that I had with makeup, such as getting really dark racoon eyes (ie smudging from my mascara under my eyes), making me look extra tired. One of my favourite finds from over the years has to be tubing mascara - I can remember when I discovered my first one! I was so psyched to get such a repeatable result from my mascara, where I didn't have to worry about my mascara travelling anywhere.
Now, think about that, but an improved version of it, where it's even better than before, but with a much smaller price tag! Iconic rite of passage brand, Australis, now has a mascara that rivals that earlier generations of tubing mascaras that will have you clicking add to cart when Priceline has their next sale! If you haven't heard of Australis, then I don't know quite how to tell you this, but I'm convinced that you must live under a rock. I think anyone who grew up here, or has spent time in Priceline and Big W, would know Australis - they are such a legendary brand, always on trend and affordable to boot.
I love that this hasn't changed in the 20+ years since I've become acquainted with the brand, and they've even managed to churn out products that might have started out as dupes, but were actually better than the original. They have now produced what I can only think of as my favourite new budget friendly mascara, and that is the Emotional Support Tubing Mascara! As a full time veterinarian, there are moments when my days are filled with joy, but similarly, I get a lot of sorrowful hours, where the loss of a patient, or tears of frustration, can lead to a messy outcome on my face. That's never a great look when I'm trying to maintain a professional outlook, and appear cheery for the next kitten that I meet, with full enthusiasm and happiness.
Aside from constantly dealing with panda eyes and mascara stained cheeks after having a big cry, I'm also after a mascara that can give me some volume and not weigh my lash lift down, and that's where the Enotional Support Tubing Mascara comes in! As we all know, tubing mascaras are designed to 'tube' each hair with the product, making it so that it's essentially coating the lashes with mascara, giving the lashes volume, definition and length, all without clumping. The formula includes castor oil, which is meant to promote lash growth, as well as peptides, panthenols and natural waxes to condition the lashes. It also has candelilla wax and carnauba wax, which can help provide a protective barrier on the skin and hair to retain moisture.
This comes in a black tube with a green cap, and a simple spoolie wand applicator. To apply this, I simply brush up, starting from the base of my lashes, moving it in a left to right zig zag motion to ensure that I'm covering all of my lashes. I do this twice to make my lashes look as flared as possible, and it wears well all day! It seems to help leave my lashes looking not at all weighed down, and it doesn't seem to damage them at all. I love that this is flake free, sweat and smudge proof, and best of all, this can be removed with very little effort! Simply pressed a cotton pad soaked in micellar water against your lashes for 30 seconds, and then watch it come away. For just under $19.95, and often, less than $10 when on sale, this is so affordable and works incredibly well - I can see myself repeating the purchase! What's your favourite mascara?
